This was a good match even though cmt1b was played.
Why do i say this then? Well some clans have the time to prac a lot and some dont. This makes it very uneven when it comes to practising new maps. Some may call me "kenya-hater" or "conservative" but this is not true. I do enjoy a lot of exmy maps and also maps like schloss, midcit and to some extent grim. I would also like to try cmt2 for atleast 10 games since it felt pretty fun the two times i played it some years ago.
Anyway, because we dont prac a lot we where ofccourse obliterated on cmt1b, a map which TKS has made to their homemap for this season. At first it felt like we could keep up and the frag difference wasnt all that big. However, the map didnt grow on us and TKS found their way around way better than CSN. Their lead built up and the last 5-8 minutes was pretty much TKS gibbing away for the win.
On dm2 we got a good start, i held tele for some minutes, and we fragged pretty ok. TKS did a good job getting rls and finally took control over tele water. The game was close and I almost won it for TKS when i teamkilled junkass just before quad some time into the game. Despite this TKS couldnt control the map and when i got my hands on a bored rl i took my one and only quad and managed to kill 2-3 TKS rl dudes and the map was pretty much ours from then on. We could frag quite easily and win by a big margin.
On dm3 i left to get some food but checked in now and then. CSN got a good start, TKS took over. Then CSN got mid-game penta and it looked safe for a little while. However, CSN didnt hold onto ra/quad and in the end TKS could win pretty easy.
All in all it was a good game.
GL in the next games TKS.

Yet again Fern failed to see the point... I dont hate new maps, I just dont think cmt1b, cmt3 and cmt4 are very good maps. There are other maps with more potential imo. Maybe some maps without shaft? Without pent? Without RA? Yeah this may sound like a remake of e1m2 but in all fairness why do almost all new maps have to contain _all_ items? Perhaps a map with 2xYA instead of ya+ra? Or try another map with 2 rls without it becoming a dm2 remake? Sometimes i see complaints about DM3 being played _all the time_ in 4on4 mixes. But if thats so, why do the new maps so often have a similar item layout? It is pretty damn weird to complain about the old maps and then make new ones that plays almost the same way...
Also, why add more maps if you cant even play the 3 existing ones? :P

Why do i say this then? Well some matches in QW are really one sided, won 2-0 easily, but this one was 2-1 which is more exciting. We can thank the league admins for making divisions which make the skill levels between opponents more even, and the map pool too I guess for making the possibilities for upsets more likely... though I'd still rather just play TB3.

I dont think adding more maps is the best way to create exciting games. It will just be even more one sided as some clans cba to learn them and some clans will stay sucky at some or all of the tb3 maps while trying to own on the new maps...

I have no interest in raping noobs on TB3. There are like 350+ players atleast who started after me and has become better than me. Fog, Skillah, Murdoc, Mille and so on just to name a few. Since players like these and others have pracced a lot (some have amazing skill as well) they have become good on TB3 as well as on other maps.
My team has always been in the middle/low part of the skill ladder and quite often we have raped, won, lost and finally become raped (in that order) by emerging teams and players on TB3 maps. Usually the first map to lose vs a team like this has been dm3 :)
The goal with wanting to play tb3 is not to stay on top with some fuzzy idea of having better map knowledge or not wanting to lose on some custom map versus rookies. Sure i get pissed of when i lose but lets face it Im not gonna be anywhere close to div1. I just want to have a good time while playing and that is best accomplished on TB3 since i only play 1-3 times per week 1-3 hours per game.
Id rather not play new maps, not because i think all of them are bad because many are actually good, but because i dont have the time needed to learn them. I know tb3 and thats enough for me to have fun while playing. This is why i feel clans should have the choice to play or skip new maps during league play. Is this really such a shocking idea?

Everyone has a choice of doing whatever they want with their free time. Some prefer playing more and training new maps and some don't.
Imo it's useless to whine about fun aspects etc since there are people who do play with more commitment and win because of that.

It will always be more fun to play if you feel you have given your best on a map you know even when you lose. Playing a new map vs a team that knows it way better is not fun, ever. Thats the difference between fun and not fun, not whether you win or lose.

However, Ill look into other maps that might be more fun than the two extra we use currently. Lets see what next nqr/eql can bring in terms of maps. There might be too many followers of new maps to neglect but there should be some better solution than to almost fully cater to their wishes. It seems that some ppl find it fun and exciting with new maps while some find it fun and exciting with old maps.
Since fun and not competition seems to be the main reason for choosing tb3 or tb3+customs I see no flaw in using opt-in. The ones who are into qw simply for the competition are few these days and also tend to have a leaning against tb3 only so the argument about making it more competetive by adding maps isnt really valid. It is more about making it more fun, for some.
