tvs still to hard to beat on dm2 but well played on e1m2 by SR. Good games
#2 blAze - 2010-04-15 00:08 (94.237.84.XXX)
I guess this game didn't quite live up to the hype, felt like we won without doing anything particularily special. I guess next time will be harder, zero probably playing and para with a better connection. Maybe we will meet in the playoffs.
#3 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 00:47 (81.170.187.XXX)
there was never any hype about this game?
we have lost regulary to all div1 teams in prac this season. tvs just above all other teams season, its all about who gets 2nd place. tvs is only team this season with 4 starplayers in lineup.. what can u do =) bendover and recieve!
#4 Ihminen - 2010-04-15 01:02 (195.148.49.XXX)
ggs. I just wish u started praccing vs us someday so we had one more clan to play with =)
#5 blAze - 2010-04-15 07:42 (94.237.84.XXX)
I just meant all the comments like "-qw- Stev - #tks : Game of the season about to start now!"

I think there were probably hotter games yesterday, for example bps's quad running in sd - sr dm2 was hot stuff. :)
#6 Hagge - 2010-04-15 09:03 (85.24.185.XXX)
If only krab wouldn't have played like a noob :E
#7 Hooraytio - 2010-04-15 09:05 (85.228.240.XXX)
Better connection :D
Yeah 12-26 is good but 39 is quite far from bad imo

Impressive by tvs, still havent lost a map
#8 gaz - 2010-04-15 13:17 (77.73.13.XXX)
I dunno Hooraytio, when you are playing against a team that is quite a bit stronger than you, 13ms difference can feel like 130 :)
#9 blAze - 2010-04-15 13:34 (83.102.10.XXX)
Well, the difference in e1m2 for example wasn't that big. With 13ms you'd win some boomstick fight at quad that you lost with 40ms, then grab a quad and as a result you make 10+ frags extra and your opponent makes 10 less and it's already really close... Small things. :)
#10 Hagge - 2010-04-15 13:36 (85.24.185.XXX)
Well it's always a psychological advantage to have the advantage in ping :E
#11 gaz - 2010-04-15 13:51 (77.73.13.XXX)
Absolutely right, Hagge.

It may also be that when playing with a higher ping (even if only 13ms difference) you take fewer risks and play more conservatively than you would if you had the ping advantage. Now obviously this goes both ways as you may end up with fewer situations where you leave an RL pack, but it also means that you are less likely to steal a crucial quad or clear a brave attack on an important area. And tight games swing on moments such as these...
#12 gaz - 2010-04-15 13:53 (77.73.13.XXX)
BTW I'm not making excuses for SR nor am I saying that this game was unfair - it does not appear to be that way from the pings in the screenshots above. But it would have been interesting to see if the match would have been different if Paradoks had 25 instead of 39.
#13 Ihminen - 2010-04-15 14:10 (195.148.49.XXX)
Im just writing here something to make more comments
#14 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 14:11 (81.170.187.XXX)
don't really care that much about 39. i had pretty much a 2 year break, and had this crap ping + crap monitor for last like 3 years?
I'm just waiting for my new apartment that i get in 1 week in Lund. 12ms connection and new 120hz screen. Then it'll be fun to play qw again. Our goal this season was to come 2nd, and we reached it. Noone ever thought with our lineup this season we had a chinaman's chance to beat tvs. They just wanna make it sound interesting. but really.. its not.. 2nd place fight is interesting :)
#15 Hooraytio - 2010-04-15 14:25 (85.228.240.XXX)
Going from 39 to 12 might have made a difference but 39 to 25? cmon, everything below 50 is absolutely alright. Besides, vs tvs atm i guess you could have 12x4 vs their 39x4 and still have a very, very hard time beating them...

Ping is important but individual skill and teamplay are far more important as long as everyone have below 50. Also, take a look at squeeze, sure he is used to it but still he plays pretty damn impressive with that high ping of his.
#16 blAze - 2010-04-15 14:28 (83.102.10.XXX)
Despite sounding a bit cocky, I don't expect us to lose a whole game, but I think it's interesting if we can pull of another flawless victory in a row, or is someone going to be able to steal a map or even two in bo5. For example the dm3 with fusion really could have gone either way.
#17 Hooraytio - 2010-04-15 14:36 (85.228.240.XXX)
Possible losses:

DM2 vs SRs best lineup: Really bad start for tvs+ low amount of mistakes by SR?

DM3 vs Fusion?

E1M2? Any clan strong enough to stop milton+xantom here?

I wouldnt be surprised if tvs managed to win all maps throughout the playoffs as well.
#18 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 14:42 (81.170.187.XXX)
Interesting blaze? i find it very boring :)
On paper AND in practice you are the WAY strongest team this season.. why? Because you are the only team with allstar lineup. None of the other clans this season have a lineup that can match yours. Lets say milton had played with SSC and xantom with enigma or something like that, and instead u got like niomic and hlt. Now then it would be even all over the board.. 6+ clans in div1 fighting for first place.

All other teams this season are crippled one way or the other in relation to real "div0". But not you.

What i'm wondering thou is if 1 or 2 teams will try and make improvements for next season, just to come close to your lineup.. on PAPER. Will that leave the scene as it was before? Polarized with 2-3 top clans and the rest 100 miles behind?

Or will tVS get bored and do as all the other clans, lose 1-2 top players to below average clans and make them all average.

It can be fun in premier league for example with always top 4 fighting, even if other 20 teams are behind. But think it was only chelsea in the top and like birmingham x 20 below. Noone would care about chelsea cause we all know they got 100x better team but so what if they are alone.

You can probably make another 1-2 top teams out of the players on the scene today, that could stand a fair chance against tVS. Question is: should you?
#19 Rikoll - 2010-04-15 14:43 (212.33.142.XXX)
If we face tVS in the play-offs, they WILL lose dm3.
#20 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 14:48 (81.170.187.XXX)
On another note, actually I think DIV1 today is doing better than it has for years. Alot of teams are equal and feel they have an actual fair chance to be #2. It makes it interesting and gives alot of prac oppertunities to all the teams. Except ofc. for tVS. They are kind of outsiders. Noone wants to prac them and everyone knows they are like 99% sure to win the tournament 2 weeks before it begins. But it's ok. As long as all other teams are aware of those rules, it's still fun =)

Also I think that alot of before unknown players or below average, have become ALOT better. Playing enigma the other day it felt like all players were div1. even votary and overdoze... wtf happend there?

Feels like everyone is getting better really fast. I think it's cause the field is more even and competetive this season. Ofc jump from div1 to div0 is so big that they probably won't reach it this or next season, but just the fact that so many more players can compete in div1 today makes it that much more fun :)
#21 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 14:48 (81.170.187.XXX)
hehe rikoll. Perhaps you will win with 30 frags, or lose with 250 :)
#22 Hagge - 2010-04-15 15:04 (85.24.185.XXX)
Nice with some discussions! Tvs is truely outstanding atm and they definately proved it in this game. However, I don't think the SR lineup is all that bad. Paradoks, Murdoc and Zero are all very solid players and Dimman/Tdog have proved this season that they have a lot of potential.

I think we should just enjoy the situation, because div1 this season has been the best for probably years? If we get to keep the same teams we will have a really interesting competition for next season, and I think a lot of clans will just get closer and closer to Tvs.

AND OMG! Paradoks moving to Lund! Finally we have a celebrity in my city that didn't participate in Idol :) Hope you won't mind me asking for an autograph if I see you in the city! Be
#23 blAze - 2010-04-15 15:05 (83.102.10.XXX)
All I know is that 10 years with mediocre lineups was enough for me. So it's up to the other teams to get better, we will keep our lineup and play to win until the day we quit.
#24 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 15:07 (81.170.187.XXX)
when did tVS ever had a mediocore lineup lol
#25 blAze - 2010-04-15 15:07 (83.102.10.XXX)
And thanks to Razor's manly attitude Enigma has been praccing with us a lot lately, and it seems to be paying off for them quite nicely. :)
#26 blAze - 2010-04-15 15:08 (83.102.10.XXX)
I think we had a mediocre lineup with one or more weak links until Diki joined.
#27 H1n1 - 2010-04-15 15:09 (94.21.41.XXX)
Fusion vs TVS was nice, but i dont think they will loose anything with Xantom.
#28 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 15:10 (81.170.187.XXX)
Hagge, I will be honored to write my name over on your chest, just make sure you shave it first.

And no, we don't have a bad team. But we still have half of the old sr2 team. Zero is probably the best of those but he has ping 50-70 and a nagging GF. As I said before, alot of players have improved. That includes dimman and theevildog also, they are just not milton/xantom, no offence =P
#29 blAze - 2010-04-15 15:14 (83.102.10.XXX)
Yeah but why would you compare your weaker players to our best? We don't have 4 Miltons either, just one. :P
#30 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 15:16 (81.170.187.XXX)
because you and ihm are the backbone of tvs, much like myself and murdoc. that leaves the rest for comparison :)

I guess it does feel a bit sad though, that our best players can only match your worst ones. But just confirms what I said about how strong you guys are on paper and the servers.
#31 Rikoll - 2010-04-15 15:27 (212.33.142.XXX)
Bah. Dramafail. Was sure I was gonna get some comments from blaze during a coffee break :-)

Me for one would like to prac vs tVS whenever both my team and them got 4 players ready. It is, imo, the best practice you can get and the only way to close the gap between us and them. I also understand why not everyone is too happy about playing tVS though. They're still at another level compared to the rest of the div1 teams.

ParadokS have many good points regarding this season, though. I haven't been around too long, but this year have started off really nice with Ownage #3 and all the activity and nice games in this EQL.
#32 dimman - 2010-04-15 15:29 (90.230.70.XXX)
None taken =)

Had a great improvement curve in 2008-mid 2009 (div5ish -> around div1-2), but then I didn't play for 3 months.

I played a bit in late 2009 -> beginning of 2010 trying to get back to where I left of mid2009.

Haven't played much at all lately and it's just frustrating not being able to compete in the top because you don't have enough time to practice.

Time for a QW-break now, has sure been fun though! :)
#33 B1aze - 2010-04-15 16:35 (91.103.66.XXX)
We ask tVS for a prac every time, but they refuse with different reasons. Probably, they just don't want to increase our TP skills and lose e1m2 once again :) . //Kidding
Offtopic: blAze, could you give me a link to that texture set or share it somewhere?
#34 razor - 2010-04-15 16:42 (81.201.222.XXX)
I wanna point out that (imo) its always very very small things that decides who win a map. Everyone has reached such a skill level so really if you break everything down and look what people does in a map it's not THAT far to where TVS is now. Do they have better aim then most people? no (i mean POV-aim). Do they have some kind of superior tactics that no one else knows about? no.
Everyone has played long enough so I think pretty much everyone knows all tactics and tricks by now :)
What separates them from the rest is the long routine.. both in general and by playing with same lineup a long time. And also i guess aim in a way but more like 4on4-routine aim. And even if they win BIG and what looks really easy I dont believe the gap is THAT huge that everyone thinks. It's just simply to prac them and the gap will decrease.
#35 B1aze - 2010-04-15 16:43 (91.103.66.XXX)
I think that current situation is just because lack of good players. We really need back reppie, nabbe, striker, xali, mem, e.t.c.
BTW, it will be interesting to see prac games like tVS vs paradoks+murdoc+valla+(bps or razor or XN).
#36 razor - 2010-04-15 16:59 (81.201.222.XXX)
ok my point sounded a bit wrong in that post :) i DO think TVS has better skill/aim etc than MOST people.. but i ment that there are many who has really close or even are on par with them when it comes to aim and movement.
so i believe its all those little things they do that they have learned from long routine and getting good teamplay together that makes them better than everyone else. But as I said those things are probably very small.. its probably mostly that they do lesser mistakes than others.. but those small things will eventually then get them more weapons on the map and finally a map-lock etc.
But if you keep prac them and then your own team will do less and less mistakes and just get better tactics/routine overall to eventually get closer to them.
#37 Hagge - 2010-04-15 17:08 (85.24.185.XXX)
You wish everybody would have your attitude razor, but unfortunately that's not the case :)
#38 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 17:11 (81.170.187.XXX)
both B1aze and razor are correct. Alot of the best players from the least 2-3 years have stopped. Making room for the lesser known players to come up the ranks in a more level playing field as i mentioned before.

I remember what it was like for us when we had para/gamer/goljat/hib. Won everything there was to win, noone wanted to prac us. Got pretty boring, so I know how it feels for tVS now. And even more so for tVS since there litterally are no lineups available in any team now to challenge them.

Just a curse of being such a small scene i guess. But I guess there's not much to do for the rest of us. We can play catchup for a year or 2 and just keep having fun :)
So many good div1 teams now I am looking forward to next season for sure.

People say playing for fun is the most important. Just happens to be that winning is the most fun =)

I guess that's why tVS don't really care, as long as they are in this lucrative position.

The question i posed before does present itself in a dangerous way. Will tVS position force other clans to acquirre better players, or even new teams to form taking away star players from other clans just to actually try and challenge tVS?

Will that make scene even more competetive, or as previous seasons.. isolate 2-3 clans in top from the rest.

Power of the free market will decide :)
#39 Ihminen - 2010-04-15 17:11 (195.148.49.XXX)
I guess all the div1 teams has talked things like if u spawn to nails in e1m2 and own/enemy takes ya what to do next... worked all answers before the match starts so u get every time the best possible start with the spawns quakegod gives u.
#40 Ihminen - 2010-04-15 17:28 (195.148.49.XXX)
I mean u shouldnt just suppose that your teammates will play the beginning well... knowing how every player in your team is gonna play every spawn helps to make your teamplay better when u hear where they have spawned. For example in tvs we play beginnings different depending who takes what in the start
#41 ParadokS - 2010-04-15 17:33 (81.170.187.XXX)
We appreciate your tactical advice. Maybe you should write some articles for QW.nu instead and help the whole scene get better. I'm sure you got alot more golden nuggest like that one hidden away. You obviously got some serious insight in 4on4 strategy.
#42 razor - 2010-04-15 17:52 (81.201.222.XXX)
I tried getting a clan going with reppie and valla before i joined enigma. Just to maybe pose a threat to TVS. But valla didnt wanna abandon Fusion and reppie is only playing wow :) But in the end I kinda like how it is now with many clans being very equal.
#43 Kwibus - 2010-04-15 17:57 (213.46.205.XXX)
I must say I would be interested to see how far tvs strategies/tactics go.
#44 manny - 2010-04-15 18:42 (86.158.92.XXX)
@razor "reppie is only playing wow :)"

Now I have more reason than ever to hate that game :c
#45 nitram - 2010-04-15 18:44 (83.226.191.XXX)
I don't think their tactics surpass any other div0 players tactics. I would say the biggest difference between TVS and the other teams in the div is their mentality. While people can speculate that they have the only team with four starplayers I can sort of agree with that, but they also have a complete team full of winners who all take playing very serious. It's a big difference between fusion, who play for fun, and tvs who plays to win. If we spent more time perfecting our teamplay and laying down common tactics we'd probably be a lot better already, but organizing something like that requires the right players where everyone shares the same dedication, and I don't think everyone is interested in becoming the next Milton anyway.
#46 Ihminen - 2010-04-15 19:08 (195.148.49.XXX)
Paradoks: Im not willing to reveal our secret tactics;E.. but you should take some time to know how different players play different situations. Knowing BPS trying to go to ra with first rl in dm3 and not to ya like chris from f helps in the game. And knowing what your teammates gonna do..
#47 razor - 2010-04-15 19:19 (83.250.97.XXX)
and knowing that blaze always stand camping behind the little corner at ya(dm3) is also vital information ;)
#48 blAze - 2010-04-15 19:22 (94.237.84.XXX)
Hahhaa. :E I keep camping my hotspots until it no longer works. At least Zero seems to remember to sweep those corners all too well nowadays so I never get to surprise him anymore. :D
#49 Hagge - 2010-04-15 19:35 (85.24.185.XXX)
Haha Blaze's special spot :E Wasn't it in the EQL against Fusion where Moltas (I think?) shot a quad rocket there before going any further into ya. Blaze of course died and went "insert random whine here" :)
#50 TheEvilDog - 2010-04-15 20:37 (90.228.229.XXX)
There will always things you can work on in your teamplay. But it's easier if you have the same players. Just look at the history, the most succesfull teams have used the same players. This season SR havn't used that many players and I think thats why we done pretty good. Of course a lot of practice is a part of it, I myself is not good enough for playing teams like tvs, but done ok against less skilled clans.

I hope playoffs will be tight and entertaining games like some of these last groupgames. QW is actually quite fun now, although some days you just wanna quit because you suck, but I guess I'm not the only one feeling that way. :D

And drama is ALWAYS fun!
