This was a very interesting game, too bad I was not able to see dm2. Before the game we did some betting with Milton, but both wanted to say 2-0 for Oclan. This time in e1m2 Fix and especially Hlt were just too good... Then in dm3 Atg had keys already for the victory: Fix had the map under his control but his teammates didn't want to play smart... So they ended up to flood rl without any 2nd weapon/armor. After 5mins, Fix still alive, controlling the map, Atg were leading only by 10 frags and it was clear that Atg's teamplay / tactics were not good enough. So there's some homework to do for you guys :)

Well played Oclan and also nice to see ATG in action again
#3 moje - 2013-05-06 08:47 (83.146.236.XXX)
diki we dont have tactics, we just play. and pretty sure noone of us dont have interest to start talk or think about those

But gg it was fun to play

Moje: Yeah I see... that's a shame, cause you have a great potential to play well... Individual skill level is so high.

Quakeworld is full of wonders. It struck me as a big surprise to notice Oclan's performance vs tVS at this very site before our planned encounter, yet another was hidden in the screenshots when the fact was inspected further. There he was, the mighty Rikoll, supported by bunch of rare puritans of the New World.

Expectations for 3points had flown out of the window. Well a pity activity point would do, as we are way behind the schedule and in dire need for points.

As Mr.Kuntu already pointed out our game is nowhere near people commonly would think, people with little more depth insights and knowledge might see it only fitting considering involved players recent years activity and picked up routines.

I personally think 4on4 gameplay has evolved much in terms of "speed and dynamic overall flow" in last 5years.

Things happen even faster than before and it seems almost impossible to hook up a sync with correct rhythm to chaos surrounding you. Might be explained with lack of routines too, but i think natural evolution supports the idea.

I would like to think i had good/fast movement skills back in the days but if you could have a race between me from 2005 and Milton from current day, the difference would be clear as a day.

In the golden years of CMF we really didnt have any certain tactics, we had a common game philosophy and 4 good overall players filling in the duties as needed in each situation. Of coz there were patterns in roles from time to time, but that was comfort of being in the situation to be able to choose a quad runner etc, basic idea was just to do what was necessary.

It worked almost to perfection sometimes, winning nqr7 without voice when it had already become somewhat a standard in div1 4on4 speaks for it loudly in my book.

The problem is that atleast i still try to play by the same gamebook, its just that lack of routines in all aspects leaves me naked and wounded to the wolfs.

Time to get back to the basics boys? ill be the tele guy!

Enough of the mouth running. Oclan firmly showed us how to get things done.

On e1m2 we managed to hold our end surprisingly nicely, i guess pretty one dimensioned map structure played a part here, ya/quad ftw.

On dm3 when they finally got the control. frags started rolling in freakishly ratio. mad skills.

dm2...well with better start it might have got bit more interesting, on the side it felt like our psyche had been hammered already too long at this duration mark.

Well played oclan, it was fun and good game, with all the highs and lows.

When I signed up with Oclan, this match, together with the match vs tVS, was definitively the games I was looking forward to in the group stages.

To be honest, this one didn't feel like my best game. I would like to blame my new mouse or whatever, but I simply think the glimpses of brilliance from these aging stars caught me off guard again and again. But where I failed my teammates really stepped up and got me up on my feet again shortly after, and I could continue what I feel I do best in this game called QW: constantly pressure and be as much of a pain in the ass to my opponents as my abilities allow me to. (well, maybe not exclusively to QW after all)

I really felt like I was being carried, and not the other way around in this game, which makes me really proud to be a part of this team. Even though I'm always confident of winning, I am also very proud of this result looking at the strong lineup we faced here. I also feel that we as a team just keeps playing better and better at a pace I've never experienced anywhere else before.

Hopefully our performance in the group stages is enough to bring us to the playoffs, and I believe any team we might possibly face there will have to bring their A-game to the table to stand a chance. We're going for gold.

Seeing as the oclan-atg game was the key for Oclan to get into a-playoffs I have little doubt that Oclan will actually make it.

There are no clans left for Oclan to play that could realistically beat them and I am not even sure that DC or SD2 will play at all while FU seems a bit idle after their first 2 games.

ATG have alot of games left but face the problem of having lost to oclan and have either really good clans (tvs sd c88) or idle clans (fu imm sd2 dc tba etc etc) to play against. They really need a win versus some of the top 3 or atleast score 1-2 losses versus them to top Oclan.

Good Luck to everyone.

Why didnt vegeta play e1m2 btw? He rocks on that one imo
#9 HangTime - 2013-05-06 23:31 (86.133.131.XXX)
Really low scoring dm2! I can't think of many clan matches where dm3 has 135 more total frags than dm2 (the stats seem to support this, with dm2 averaging 64 more than dm3).

(Top fragger <50 is also pretty uncommon on dm2). BTW these comments are observations, not criticisms :)
