Here is a mid-season look at division 2...

Division 2 update

All teams but one have been active so far with at least 2 played games. During the final five weeks I actually expect most of the games to be played for a change. During the last few seasons we have seen far too many walkovers and I hope this is a trend shift. Time will tell.


Paras

Paras have played a staggering 10 games with the 2-1 win against Fraggers United as their greatest accomplishment so far. Aside from that they have rather disappointing 1-2 losses against God Blessed and Div99 and judging by the scores both games could easily have ended in wins for Paras. All three of their 0-2 losses was expected beforehand and the only game that remains for them is versus The Team who currently have 0 games played and looks to be a dead team. Paras will end up with 22-25 points placing them around 6th-7th place. Their win against Lost Legion was probably the key to avoiding 8th place and a really hard quarter final against Immortals who looks to be the winner of the group as of now.


Immortals

Immortals are doing very well so far and have surpassed my expectations for them. Truth to be told they have added both Ovr and Shaka who have had a tremendous impact on their game. Even though Heddan is the top fragger he only played 2/3 of the maps while Ovr is logging 100% and was a key factor in their win against top rival Chosen. They have six straight 2-0 wins but still have at least two tough games left against Fraggers United and Klaphat. From the looks of it though, Immortals have sailed up as aspiring division 2 final team and the clans meeting them in the quarters and semis will have a really hard time. We still haven’t seen Greco play but I guess they will unleash the greek just when we expect it the least.


Klaphat

Klaphat has started out with 3 straight 2-0 wins against the mid and low part of the division and they are still to be tested against a little harder opposition. They have a fearsome lineup with TheEvilDog and Raket joining their ranks mid-season. Still, they need to put in quite a few games during the second half of the season and they haven’t really been that active so far. If they can get most of their games played I can absolutely see them ending up near the top. Their games against Immortals, Fraggers United, Chosen and God Blessed will be really interesting.


God Blessed

The weekend quakers from North America have established themselves as a middle clan of division 2 after two wins and two losses. Sane and Blood_Dog have been good but they could really use Vegeta if they want to add some more wins against the better clans of the division. They have their worst win % on DM3, a map on which Vegeta really rocks. Since they only play on weekends they have to hassle if they want to finish all their games on time. God Blessed will most likely make it to the playoffs unlike what I wrote in the preview.


Chosen

Chosen started out really well with three straight 3-0 wins but has underperformed in their last two games against Fraggers United and Immortals. Both maps against Fraggers United were nail biters but in the end FU managed to slow spawn their way to victory while Immortals crushed CSN on DM3 and took over DM2 just in the end for the 2-0 win. Chosen has been hurting from the loss of Mm to Crazy88 and Ake_Vader has been somewhat absent leaving CSN with a little less offensive force. Chosen will still end up near the top and are aiming to avoid places 5-8 to get a, hopefully, easier quarter final. Erra, Elguapo and Hooraytio has been the core so far this season but if they want to turn the latest negative trend around they need to bring back Ake_Vader and Flintheart and manage the team better according to the map played.


Lost Legion

After a scheduled 2-0 win against TPA there was some controversy during LLs 1-2 loss against Paras. The team has since threatened to quit playing and their status is unsure as of now. However, if they do decide to play they have a really good lineup and have also added Marvel since the start of the season. If they field their best guys they can go far this season but at the moment I am quite pessimistic.


Div99

Since the start of the season D99 has added Adde, Lethalwiz and Tsobo which has made them immensely better. They haven’t used their best lineup in all games however and therefore faced a crushing defeat against Immortals. They came a lot closer in their 0-2 loss against Klaphat and managed to beat Paras 2-1. Depending on how they distribute their team they can very well reach the playoffs but the skill discrepancy in this team is too wide for them to make a real impact in the playoffs.


The Powerless Amebas

TPA are having a rough ride as expected but you have got to give them credit for their persistence. They show up season after season and despite losing most of the maps they seem to have a fun time and always give it their best. As I suspected they will miss the playoffs and not even the addition of mighty 187 will change their fate this time.


Mob of Oddballs

After facing some severe activity problems MOFO have finally started to play but after two 0-2 losses versus mid division 2 teams they don’t look like a team for the playoffs. As far as the rest of the season goes they can probably score a map win here and there and a 2-0 versus TPA for sure but MOFOs season will most likely end on November 17th. That being said, if they can field their best guys Driz, Dirtbox, Darff and Fer they can probably do a lot better but the chances for this to happen seems slim with connection issued combined with late working hours for some.


More Bastards

He is back! Bulat has signed up for MB. Now they will most likely be moved to division 1 and defeat Suddendeath and tVS in a jiffy! Joking aside, Bulat is naturally a good addition to any team in division 2 when he is in good form, i.e. 60% LG, but we still haven’t seen any 4on4 action from his side in a long time. MB also lost a good player in Anupko who declared he wont have time to play this season. So far MB has lost two straight games 0-2 and especially the 0-2 against Paras is troublesome for a team that is looking forward to reaching the playoffs. Anyway, they have at least 8 games left and plenty of time to rectify their point deficit. VVD, Tmp, Dot and Bulat should be able to turn this ship around.


Fraggers United

Fraggers United has been really inactive ever since the pre-season but now they have finally started their engine with two games. A really good effort versus CSN saw them sitting on top with 2-0 but just before that they faced a disappointing 1-2 loss at the hands of Paras. They have recently recruited Dmt who, if he is active enough, will help them a great deal. They have a well rounded lineup and if they just continue to play they should have no problems reaching the playoffs. As usual they are saving Anza for the real big games like semis and finals.


The Team

These guys haven’t played or pracced and I don’t really think they will play much either. I hope they will though since they have a good team and could probably do well in this division.
