Playoff predictions 3

The time has come for the 18th EQL final where Suddendeath and Chosen will meet for the first time.

Majestic and Immortals will have to recharge their batteries and get ready for the bronze game as we look forward to the final two games of the season.

With a mere 12 clans and an activity of around 40% there has still been quite a lot of action and intense games this season. Majestic has been the positive exclamation mark while Chosen has disappointed some after their successful run for the division 2 title in EQL 17. The spectators had anticipated a final between Suddendeath and Firing Malfunction but as the season progressed it was clear that CMFS were nowhere to be found.


Suddendeath vs Chosen

Suddendeath boasted a 12-0 map record as they made their way into seed 1 and a spot in the semifinals and they wherent really challenged by any team with the exception of Suddendeath 2 who came within 100 frags on DM2. Suddendeath who lost the EQL 17 final to tVS are eager to claim their second EQL title and nothing really stand in their way this season as they quite easily defeated Immortals 3-0 in the semifinal and now await last season's division 2 champions Chosen. All though Chosen improved a lot during playoffs there isnt anyone who doubt a 3-0 victory here for Suddendeath. We all know the players of this team by now: bps, carapace, ganon, rasta and mawe. All of them players who can turn around games and lead a team to victory in crucial situations. Having to face 4 of them at the same time has proven too hard for every team this season and only teams like SR, tVS, c88 or CMFS would be able to do anything about them these days.

Chosen had a miserable group stage with losses versus all, on paper, equally skilled clans. The only bright moment came during Flinthearts only map this season where they took down Suddendeath 2 on DM3 in an otherwise dull performance as they lost the game 1-2. They also lost to long time rivals Immortals and newcomer Majestic. With 3 easy wins versus Paras, Division 99 and Lost Legion they did however manage to get enough points to end up in 3rd place thus avoiding Suddendeath in the Semifinals. Even though the result in the final seems clear Chosen have established themselves as the best clan below the real div0 clans with a division 2 win last season and a spot in the finals this season. With all but one div0 clans gone the spot in the finals was up for grabs and with 3-1 wins against both Fraggers United and Majestic Chosen managed to get it. Elguapo has been the main player for CSN this season, turning maps around and bringing some crucial quadruns to the field. Hooraytio has played equally much but has not impacted the games in the same way as Elguapo but instead been somewhat of a backup/defense player. Late addition TheEvilDog has played solid and was one of the main reasons CSN played so well in the playoffs. Krab has done his part with alot of teamplay and heart while pollox and 187 has been called upon from time to time. Both of them did really well when they got the chance. Sadly CSN saw alot less of Ake_Vader, Flintheart and Xero and this is one of the reasons the group stage was such a bumpy road for them.

Outcome: 3-0 for Suddendeath


Majestic vs Immortals

Majestic looked like a clan for the b-playoffs. Well, atleast before they added mm and pai. Then they looked like a contender for a spot in the a-playoffs and what a contender they were. Not only did they managed to beat last season's division 2 champions Chosen but they also beat Suddendeath 2 and Immortals on their way to secure seed 2 and a place in the semifinals. Mm and pai complemented each other well and got able back up from less known players like Muffin, Burps and P4le. However, when it was time for the semifinal against Chosen there was some issues with the lineup and they were forced to add former Chosen player Mythic to the lineup in the last second. After the first map had been played P4le showed up and replaced Mythic for the remainder of the semifinal. After being down 2-0 they finally crushed Chosen on DM3 but then picked DM2 for some reason and Chosen sailed to a 3-1 victory. Majestic will once again rely on mm and pai to secure the bronze medal for them but they will also need good individual play from muffin, p4le and burps if they hope to take down Immortals.

Last season Immortals sailed through division 2 with a map record of 18-2. However, they were eliminated in the quarter finals by Lost Legion with a score of 3-0. This was of course a major upset and a true disappointment for the team who had hoped to claim the division 2 title. They had a chance back in EQL 14 as well but lost to Oclan 3-0 in the final. This season they have brought in Niw from last season's division 2 runner ups Klaphat and Blooddog from God Blessed. This has made them stronger on every map as Niw is a really solid player and Blooddog is good at both DM3 and DM2. Immortals managed to beat Chosen 2-0 in the groupstage but fell short to Majestic and Suddendeath. They didnt play against Fraggers United or Suddendeath 2, two games that could have been very interesting. They ended up 4th and had to beat Paras if they wanted to proceed to the semifinal and since Paras lacked Feari it turned out to be fairly easy for Immortals as they won 3-0. In the semfinal Suddendeath proved to be too hard once again and they now have the chance for revenge on Majestic as they will battle it out for 3rd place. Their core lineup has been niw, ekz, blooddog, ovr and heddan and these are the guys they should stick to if they want to beat Majestic.

Outcome: 3-2 for Immortals
