Prediction of Division 1

2009-03-01 14:32 by Itsinen

This time we have a new writer, sir Hagge!

Predicting div1 is something I have always wanted to do, but the lack of time always gets in the way. This season of div1 looks more hot than it has in a long while. Being finished with my degree I just had to take the necessary time that was needed. If I haven't gotten all the facts correct, please feel free to correct me. If you don't feel like you agree with what I say, please feel free to flame me. All comments are welcome, hateful ones, as loving ones <3

Hagges Div1 Predictions:
1. TVS
2. Slackers
3. Druidz
4. CMF
5. 3B
6. Axemen
7. Oblivion
8. Quakeklan
9. Fusion
10. Dies Ater
11. Vagabond
12. HIPS
13. SD

1. TVS
After seeing the last season of EQL (and the seasons before that) I think there's few people who don't consider TVS being the favourites for the title this season. The constant activity and the addition of Xantom makes their odds of winning even lower. It's time for the other top clans to step up and show some activity, so that TVS will at least be able to enjoy a couple of even maps. But beating them? Atm that just seems impossible..

2. Slackers
Famous for causing extreme drama, Slackers are either loved or hated by the members of our scene, and now they are finally back! No recruiting has been necessary after the merging of sr and sr2 a couple of seasons ago and this season of Slackers consists of as much as ten players! Dragon and Insane seems to be more or less inactive. Same goes for Javve, although he said that he will play if sr will let him :) Mja seems to have disappeared after a great amount of activity and a lot of progress. Haven't seen Purity praccing yet with sr, but he has been active for the dutch national team. That leaves us with at least five active players: Murdoc, Zero, Krab, Mille and Paradoks. It doesn't really matter which of these five superstar players SR will use since they mostly rely on their sr spawns. Activity seems good and if they can keep it up I'm sure we will see them fighting for a spot in the final together with DRZ.

3. Druidz
Druidz seems to have periods of great activity combined with less active periods. (around playoffs last season?) I really hope the activity will last for the whole season this time, since they have many tough games ahead. With the addition of Razor they sure are looking hot on the paper, but their performance will depend on how they will tackle their current situation. Razor is still not in top notch shape, nor is he used to be playing with mm3. Mawe and Lakso, two important key players, don't seem to be too active atm, but hopefully that will change? Reppie seems to mix fantastic performances, with less fantastic ones.

4. CMF
Hlt, the boy scout of Fifi & Fixs talent school, is strangely enough looking more like the rival Milton for every day that passes by, than his fellow teammates. He has just kept on getting better throughout the seasons and might now actually be the most important player for cmf. He has showed a great amount of activity together with fix and fifi which is why we have seen CMF doing a lot better than the last couple of seasons. The problem for CMF is the 4th player. Mazer has a lot of skills, but doesn't seem to play much more than the eql games, which can also be noticed in his gameplay. With more activity from mazer, or from any other of the talented lineup CMF has (jus, zhin, siv - where are you?) I actually think CMF might end up at least in semi finals this season. There's a lot of hungry clans out there though..

5. 3B
Together with Fusion 3B must be the clan that has showed the most activity the last couple of months. They have three new players in their rooster this season, making them look even stronger than before. The addition of Gor from No Pasaran! unfortunately seems to have killed that clan, putting all the russian hope to 3B. Gor sure is gonna be a player belonging in the starting lineup for 3B. B1aze was collected from the last seasons div3 team Cannon Fodder and has showed some great improvements since then. The last addition is Spec which is a player that seems to have come from nowhere? I atleast have never heard of him before, but after having pracced a few maps against 3B he seems as deadly as the other teammates. In the starting lineup I would at least like to see xn, gor and b1aze, which I consider being 3Bs three best. Who takes the fourth place doesn't really matter since the rest seem to be of equal skill. Ass, SS and Spec all have enormous potential, but they don't seem to spring with activity. Bulat has all the talent a player needs, but lacks experience in 4on4. Also a bit sad not seeing Bublik this season, since he did great last season (maybe spec is bublik faking?) :) All in all, I think we will see 3B fighting together with CMF for a spot in the semifinals.

6. Axemen
I'm glad Axemen finally decided to come back to the scene, great work getting the team together Timmi! The always so happy norweigans do not only know good sportmanship, but they also consist of a lot of 4on4 skills. With the addition of Molle from SD they have a very solid team that can do well on all three maps. It hasn't taken tco that long to get back in good shape, and he will just keep on getting better during the season. Arnette has enormous potential and it's nice to finally see him play in a div1 clan. (or play 4on4 at all for that matter, you damn duel freak!) :) Timmi has been really active lately, and is probably playing the best quake so far in his carreer? Sassa doesn't seem to be that active, but even if he was I think he would have a hard time being in the starting lineup. Another interesting player is Rikoll who we can find in Axemens 2nd squad. He has done a lot of improvements lately and I'm sure it's just a question before we see him in the first team?

7. Oblivion
My own clan, so I guess I shouldn't say too much :) We usually like sticking around in div2, but this season we sure are eager to prove that we can do some damage also in div1. With the addition of ok98 from SD and by getting back broning from five years of inactivity we have a very solid team. The goal is definately a playoffs spot, which I think we should be able to achieve. Just need to get broning a bit more active and we will at least be unbeatable on dm2!

8. Quakeklan
Quakeklan didn't seem to be that active in last EQL, but this season I hope it will be different. We have seen a lot of praccing from these guys and in the game against CMF (0-2 loss) they showed that they can put a lot of pressure on the top clans. The addition of Kingpin makes them step up a notch. Fog has been doing some great progress since he started to play and is a lethal weapon against any clan on dm3. TheEvilDog has taken the experience gained from sr2 with him and is imo Quakeklans atm most prominent player. Cage is a really interesting player with deadly aim who likes to play with a great mix of cs and quadrunning. I heard he just got back from adventures in Thailand (?) and I hope we will see him getting active again soon enough because he might be needed if Quakeklan wants to end up in playoffs.

9. Fusion
Fusion has showed some great activity in the last half year and has definately stepped up a notch or two. With new additions like moltas, serox and blsp they will manage to do a lot of damage in div1. Skillah came from nowhere just a couple of years ago and it looks like he could be the little brother of Reppie. Squeeze keeps on impressing us with his ability to play with high ping and Moltas just keeps on getting better. If they can keep the activity up they will raise their skill level yet another step and might be a contestant for a playoffs spot?

10. Dies Ater
DA have just started playing again and it feels kinda hard to predict how good they will be this season. A team consisting of Persuader, Soma, Creature and Spoink would be deadly to most div1 clans, but I haven't yet seen Spoink play anything. The rest of the players are semi-good replacements and the games so far against Fusion (2-1 victory) and SR (0-2 loss with close dm2) have probably gone better than I expected.

11. Vagabond
Vagabond is the only newly founded team in div1 this season and it should be interesting to follow their progress. They have quite an interesting mix of players with youngsters like edvin and sailorman, which have done a lot of progress since they started playing a couple of years ago. A lineup of riker, panic, edvin and sailorman looks pretty hot, but I haven't seen riker playing that much so far. If he does, Vagabond might be a threat to most div1 clans.

12. HIPS
I thought we would see a great future for the new fix (joulukuu) after his ownage a couple of seasons ago, but it seems like he kinda has faded away a bit. The skill in hips nowadays lies more in katsku, jebbis, mato and miroslav. Also the addition of 187 looks interesting. Activity seems pretty good, but unfortunately they will stay in the bottom. This will be a season of learning for HIPS and the more games the play vs the better clans the more they will be able to grow. I sure am looking forward to the game against SD for the last spot of div1!

13. SD
Despite the loss of their core players I'm impressed they still give div1 a chance, big cred guys! The twins (Votary and Overd) has done some great progress since joining sd and are becoming deadly div1 players. They have to fight hard though since players like sajko, latmask and ganon are rather unexperienced, but there lies a lot of talent in these names, especially in ganons case. Just like with HIPS the journey in div1 will give this team a lot of experience and they will grow a lot throughout the season, but they might have a hard time taking down a single map against any other team than HIPS.

That's all for now. This is the first time I write anything like this, so don't be too hard on the flaming ;) Keep up the activity and let's make this the best season ever of div1!

#5 2009-03-01 15:51 by 1tsinen (85.156.193.XXX)

Afaik, spec = bublik. Ass = Del(itel) , would be best if they commented on it them selves ;)

#6 2009-03-01 15:54 by Hagge (85.24.185.XXX)

Thanks :) Yeah, ass = del for sure, but when I asked the sneaky russians about spec, they just said he's known as spec or spectator and that he's an oldschool player.. He has the same ping as bublik though, so it seems a bit fishy hehe, but you never know! There keeps on popping up new russians all the time :)

#7 2009-03-01 15:55 by Hagge (85.24.185.XXX)

btw, do you guys think div1 is easy to predict this season? would be nice to see some more predictions :) when I asked lakso about it he thought exactly the same as me with the exception of the two last spots where he had put SD in front of HIPS :)

#8 2009-03-01 16:12 by siv (217.210.60.XXX)

"Despite the loss of their core players I'm impressed they still give div1 a chance". yeh well,,we didnt really, we wanted to play in div 2 where we belong, but admins put us in div 1 anyhow. Seems like we have to change clan name or something to get out of div 1 :/

Nice predictions! Very nice read.
Shouldn't this nice piece be listen under columns?

#14 2009-03-01 20:33 by elguapo (130.243.188.XXX)

So im a "semi-good replacement" hagge? And I though we were friends.. :(

#15 2009-03-01 23:34 by Hagge (85.24.185.XXX)

you were when I wrote the text a couple of days ago, but I guess you have proved yourself a bit more in the last couple of days :)

siv, you're welcome back! and bring manu + angua with you!

#16 2009-03-02 16:01 by fog (130.235.224.XXX)

Hagge, we just gave away the victory to you yesterday so you wouldn't feel sad that your prediction might not be correct..

But we like being the "underdogs", and as usual I can promise that we will deliver more and more as the season continues!

Fear us praccing dm2/e1m2 and putting some teamplay up! See you in playoffs i hope, and you will taste our lightning, sucker! ;D

#17 2009-03-03 09:17 by Hagge (85.24.185.XXX)

I was actually wondering why you gave away that game after such an impressive dm3 :(

#18 2009-03-03 12:02 by Kwibus (62.41.97.XXX)

That's not that complicated. Their teamplay is obviously lacking on those maps. And yours is pretty solid on it.
Well that was how it showed when watching.
Quakeklan on dm3 is great tho!

#19 2009-03-03 14:56 by knast (84.181.127.XXX)

do a prediction of div2. its like read some1s palms:)

#20 2009-03-06 11:25 by spec/bublik (94.41.16.XXX)

I thought every1 knows but it seems not. I wanted to change my nick a long ago and start to faking under the nick \"spec\" - antonym of the most popular fakenick - \"player\". Also I played a phil\'s ztn tournament under the nick \"bbk\". Oh I almost forgot - I stopped to play qw because of high ping - 51-65 on ru servers and even higher on others. Maybe somewhen i\'ll come back but who knows? That\'s all folks.

#21 2009-03-08 09:39 by Hagge (85.24.185.XXX)

hehe, no I didn't know.. and when I was asking russians about it they just said that you were oldschool some oldschool guy making a comeback :) thanks for clearing it out!

too bad about the ping, hope to see you back again soon and hopefully with a better ping? 3b needs you! :)

#22 2009-03-13 00:21 by VVD (194.186.188.XXX)

Time to kick inactive teams?
1 team from div2 and 2 teams from div3.

#23 2009-03-13 05:16 by Stev (83.70.110.XXX)

Those two div3 teams folded, so I don't know why they haven't been deleted yet.

#24 2009-03-13 10:30 by samek (212.160.235.XXX)

I don't really know why antiquad sighs to eql. The haven't played any game for few seasons...

#25 2009-03-13 11:25 by Hagge (85.24.185.XXX)

hehe yeah that's a good question.. they always start praccing against the other teams in the division instead of playing eqls, and then eventually they just die :(
