Div 1 Week 2

2006-01-16 12:22 by menth0l

This week we got the unfortunate news that Fragomatic will not be participating in EQL this season. This is certainly a disappointment since they were looking very good in the EQL1 final. Hopefully they'll return next season and bring da ruckus as it were. In other news, Firing Squad have found themselves having lineup issues with Spoinka taking a break from the game and god knows what else. They join AQ, DT and 3tk in the group of clans who have yet to play a league game this season. AQ seems to play 3-4 pracs every night though so one can do little but speculate as to the reasons behind their "inactivity".

On a more positive note, Division 1 was just bursting with activity this week. 3 matches were played this week, including a game between GTG and LA. Here are last weeks games in a reverse order of preference:

Leftovers vs Clan MalFunction (2 - 0)

This was a terrible game to spectate, even though the spam on the "finnecam" was rather entertaining. Last week when cMF played with a fix-angua-hlt-siv lineup they looked rock solid, which is a lot more than you can say about their lineup in this game, angua-fifi-Zhin-vore. cMF were well and truly "j?iss?" due to inactivity while l0, as we all know, are currently hot as fuck. The one map that was played in this match isn't really worth going over, and I wouldn't recommend watching the demo. After the first map cMF had had enough and honestly who can blame them?

Leftovers vs the Viper Squad (0 - 2)

And now for something completely different. Like I said last week, tVS are shaping up to be the team to beat this season. Now that mirage is back and Milton has thawed out slightly, it will be interesting to see if anyone can touch them on dm2. Having said that, l0 came mighty close in this game, denied only by a blistering last five minutes by tVS.

The first map was l0's choice, dm3. As I said, Milton seems to have found his stride once more and is certainly one of the strongest all-around players of div1 at the moment. In dm3 he showed just that, leading tVS to a well-earned victory. l0 were able to make reasonable resistance, especially around penta spawns, but in the end never really threatened tVS' lead, and the map ended in a comfortable 60-ish frag win for tVS.

For the second map, tVS unsurprisingly picked dm2. Now, at the moment tVS are what you would call "very strong" on dm2. Give it a couple more weeks and I don't think they can be beaten on it, expect maybe by dag. Leftovers gave them a run for their money though, and the round was very tight all the way through. One can't help but wonder what difference insane could have made had his ping been reasonable. tVS started their comeback with around 5 minutes left in the round and successfully cleaned up low rl a few times which was enough to secure them a victory by the smallest of margins. I guess l0 was a bit hasty with the sauna, or perhaps not hasty enough.

LegeArtis vs Griffins Tappra Gossar (2 - 0)

Game of the week right here folks. Not only was the game fairly even, there were so many QW icons on the server I couldn't decide which POV to pick! For those of you who have yet to watch the demos I'm going to give nabbe's POV my thumbs up. The man is simply on fire here, especially on e1m2. It's like he couldn't make the wrong decision if the wanted to! Also look out for LA's newest superstar Aniol who secures the game for them by stealing not one but two quads right at the end, taking the wind out of griffins sails. Up until that point it looked certain that GTG would be able to make up the frags but Aniol was having none of it.

That's it for the games this week, let's hope the activity keeps rising like it has thus far (one game last week, 3 games this week) and we'll surely be in for a spectacular season.

good read, as always! great to see that we have gotten some activity in div1.. maybe we'll get even more next week? :) just looked at the tvs-l0 demos and both clans sure looks hot.. cmf, la and gtg better start praccing if they wanna stand a chance! :)

I'm actually really looking forward to AQ playing some league games. They look very good at the moment, but are having lineup issues (at least according to Lohjan Dag).

Ye, Mate just got a new isp and Tuoppi is back from NY. So now we have 4 own guys... all our pracs are played with ringer.

#9 2006-01-16 18:29 by sassa

great report menthol!

but I think both FS and SD can beat tVS on dm2!! even if they get warm in their pants!

I have seen vladde on the servers aswell! he is looking rusty but a div0 is always a div0, just a matter of time before he owns on e1m2 again

i thought the gtg vs. la was an embarrassment. i expected loads from it but first dag refused to play e1m2 and dropped. la wanted to start with three players but after a while got to quick-reqruit aniol (that bla, bla, bla). mr.lame dropped to play wc3 or something, since la couldn't get four people in time and in comes a rusty apok. nabbe played great, but most of the frags he got in the gl/ya-area was way2ez. griffin was awesome, like he always is and there's no doubt that gtg would have taken this with lame instead of apok (no offence) against a "la-light"-team.. so ZZZZZz.. almost like cmf vs. l0, but cmf made a w.o. Zzzz.

l0 vs. tVs was great though, great players and a sure gg!

#11 2006-01-17 00:24 by nakoz

... and with "taking this" I mean e1m2, on a dm2 decider I can not predict the outcome, but nabbe (and slime) made solid dm3-games, so maybe advantage la..

#12 2006-01-17 02:36 by menth0l

What can i say i'm an LA fanboy :(

#13 2006-01-17 09:32 by Hagge

must agree with you there nakoz, but I still think it was nice to see both teams back in action and I hope we can expect some more from both of them!

#14 2006-01-17 10:50 by fix

what comes cmf vs l0, it was all my fault.

fifi was never even supposed to play in this game, im glad he found out time for 1 round atleast, and then had to go for some other stuff..

i was supposed to be there and play with zhin angua and vore, but falled asleep and when i woke up it was already too late..thats why we missed the tvs game also which was scheduled for later the night... gg me.
