FS ? Leftovers

2006-02-06 15:23 by menth0l

This game held a lot of interest for me because this seasons hottest team, Leftovers, were against the 2nd place finishers in EQL1. Did they have enough to challenge a div0 clan?

DM2

Full start for FS; 1?2?3 gets low RL, secret and quad, and guards high RL which reppie picks up. Insane gets the second RL at low, but being pressured by gemini, takes a dip in the lava with it. At this point the situation looks grim for Leftovers, but they catch a break when ricks0n grabs the 3rd RL at low and goes on to kill a quaded reppie as he tries to attack. Encouraged by this and suddenly coming into some 3 RLs, Leftovers mount an attack on the next quad, but only manage to kill gemini as he grabs it. At this point Insane decides to take the map under his control, and is practically unchallenged for the next quad as FS are somewhere licking their wounds. Insane does a good job with the quad, sweeping low RL, tele and 2xYA, finally catching an FS RL (1?2?3) at tele-high. 1?2?3 goes down, dragon gets the pack. In hindsight insane is probably kicking himself for giving dragon that pack, since he uses it to bore at quad, giving reppie not only the powerup but a rocket launcher to go with it. The quad itself is fairly uneventful but it allows FS to regain control of the map.

The next few quads go to FS, but l0 play an excellent defensive game and manage to hold on to all their weapons, and finally take out both reppie and gemini at 2xYA. This is murdoc's cue to take the next quad and go to town with it. During his quad FS lose all their weapons and control transfers firmly to Leftovers. Inexplicably they manage to fumble it straight away as ricks0n takes out a few team mates with this quad rockets. Gemini doesn't do much better himself on the next quad, taking out reppie and then dying himself while trying to guard the pack. On the next quad, Dragon pulls off a huge play and steals it from reppie. Some confusing times follow, with control shifting from side to side. Finally FS come out on top and start taking back the 40ish frag difference in l0's favour.

The final minutes of the map is a razor&reppie show. They pull off some crazy quad runs and sweep low every time, not allowing Leftovers to get back into the game. L0 catch a break with insane getting the last quad but it's too little too late. 1-0 to FS.

Player of the map
Reppie. The only FS player with an efficiency of over 50% and top fragger by 15 over ricks0n.

DM3

Quad/ring dragon, penta insane, RL razor. Razor fends off dragon at YA and takes his weapon to RA, grabbing the armour and the megahealth at hill. 200/200 + RL for razor, things are looking good for quad #2. But hold on, razor doesn't go to quad. Luckily neither does insane who has YA, mega and RL. Instead, the quad is picked up by gemini who quickly succumbs to shotgun fire from murdoc. Shortly after, razor is taken for a ride at RA by dragon and the tables turn on FS. Reppie sneaks to RA and manages to take out ricks0n before being killed by murdoc and insane. The battle for the next quad is a big ol' mess, with razor eventually killing the quad and a few l0 RLs. Both sides retreat to grab some armour for the next quad. The quad goes to dragon who takes out gemini but the pack doesn't interest his team mates for some reason. Bolstered by his success at quad, dragon decides to take on razor at YA and gets properly owned. Meanwhile, reppie has taken control of RA and the show is ready to begin. The 15th minute powerups all go to FS, with reppie getting ring and quad and razor getting penta. Out of the following 30 kills, 25 are by razor or reppie...

It is safe to say that at this point Leftovers are in trouble. Razor is doing his best riker-impression at YA and reppie is grabbing the quads and sweeping the map for strays. The dominance continues all the way through to the 10th minute powerups, with reppie once again getting ring and quad and the pent going to 1?2?3. It's finally broken when reppie is unable to get the next quad and razor gets ambushed at YA. Reppie also gets taken down when trying to clean up the mess. Luckily for FS, 1?2?3 steps up, takes the next quad and goes to town with his shaft, holding the RA side for FS.

With YA finally in their control, Leftovers manage to stack up some weapons and succeed in getting a quad. Insane does a decent job with it, securing RA for this team. For some reason they again fail to show up quad when they are about to get control of the map and it goes to FS. Even though the quad is quickly taken down one does have to wonder how much this mistake costs l0. With around 5 minutes to go in the map and a frag difference of 50, Leftovers are in a hurry. Insane gets the 5 minute penta and the next quad, and knows his team needs a good lock on the map in order to win. However, he fails to kill the FS RL held by razor and gets killed at YA when attacking it after his pent runs out. This is the last nail in the coffin for Leftovers. Razor, now into his siv impression, steps up as a big game winner and takes the next quad. Even though he bores at RA, he puts the map beyond reach for Leftovers, and FS take it by 20 frags.

Player of the map
Razor. He gives FS the big lead by holding YA between the 15 and 10 minute pentas and then helps them keep it by mopping the floor with l0 after the 5 minute penta.
