Division 4 preview.

2007-03-13 10:46 by Hooraytio

Hello guys, here is another prediction but division 4 this time. Enjoy

As before the order in which I present the clans is the order I think they will be placed after all games are played.

Division 4
Lets get ready to rumble!

The maps
The clans in division 4 have voted for tb3 + cmt3-4 but it was a close vote which ended 6-5 in favour of tb3 + cmt3-4. Having to deal with the CMT maps might prove to be some trouble for comebacking clan Chopstickninjas. CMT4 always seem to provide problems for Polish and Russian clans and we have plenty of those in this seasons division 4. The polish clans will provide the other teams with some feared knowledge on DM2 though and especially PsychoHaloons Crew are known to be really good here. Since Enemy Quad have signed Votary and Overdose they will do well on the TB3.

The teams

Psycho Haloons Crew
Last season was a disappointment for these poles as they only managed to score 7 points in 8 games. They scored most of their points by winning on the Polish national arena DM2 but they had a hard time on maps like CMT4 and E1M2. They are currently placed 6th in NQR10 Bronze B with 3 straight wins and 9 points. They had very easy rides versus Clan Tayto and In A Blaze where they crushed all opposition on DM2 as usual. Typically enough they lost E1M2 versus a weaker Enemy Quad and this map is still a problem for them. This season they should do much better though and they will end up near or in the top. The key to victory for them is naturally DM2 and hope that they can make some better efforts on CMT4 and E1M2 than usual.

Strengths: DM2, Lbn
Weaknesses: E1M2, CMT4,

Oldones
The old guys from Finland are back to fight another season in division 4 where they struggled a lot last season versus strong teams like Morituri and Dies Ater. Now these teams are gone and their vision of the top positions is brighter. Last season featured some ups and downs for this team as they surprisingly took a map from teams like Chosen and Morituri on their way to 6th place. They showed some good team spirit as they brought down teams like Psycho Haloons Crew and SmackThatAss but that just wasn?t enough to reach the playoffs. So far in NQR10 Bronze B they have won 4 out of 5 games and hold a 4th place just in reach of the playoffs. Their only loss came versus O CLA, currently in division 3 here in EQL5. This game was followed by some drama as some players from O CLA apparently didn?t have security modules and such during the game. Still Oldones made strong efforts versus SmackThatAss, Allans Vittnen, Broiler Fabriken and In A Blaze, all of these teams are maybe division 5 standard so I guess it was good warmup games for the games ahead. Oldones always play a strong E1M2 but lack some stopping power on DM2 and CMT4 which could be a deciding factor for their amount of points during this season if they don?t get a little better here. Still there are many weaker clans in their division and they should not have too much problems here. They have however lost Creature to Swedish clan Core and this is of course a set back for them.

Strengths: E1M2 and teamplay
Weakness: CMT4

Asdf
This Irish clan recently had to drop out from NQR10 Silver A since they lacked players. They use teamspeak/ventrilo and this seems to give them some extra edge. I have played quite a few games versus this team and they always flood enemy rls and weak positions very good. They play good on all of the TB3 maps but maybe lack some experience versus better clans. Still this division is in my opinion perfect for them to begin with and we will see where they go from here. Their best player would have to be Vincent who used to play for Gauntlet back in NQR5 where he scored 62 frags per map over 23 maps. I am looking forward to see them play some official games since we never got a chance to see them in NQR10.

Strengths: Teamplay, TB3 and Vincent
Weakness: Experience

SmackThatAss
These German quakers have been around for a while and have improved a lot since I first played them. In a recent practice game they beat Chosen in 2 straight maps and it really felt like they played a solid teamplay. Last season was hard for them though and they only won a single map over 7 games ending dead last after a lot of clans dropped from division 4 during the season. Their NQR10 season however is much better and they have won 5 out of 8 games so far. The 3 games lost have come versus stronger teams like Mean Machine, O CLA and Oldones and this proves that SmackThatAss still have some stuff to learn before they can advance all the way to the top of division 4. Their 5 wins have all come versus weaker clans and in my opinion very expected wins. SmackThatAss are good at all the TB3 maps but it is left to be seen how well they perform on the CMT maps. Last season they had serious problems on CMT4 versus both Chosen and Morituri and a key to earn points versus them could be to choose this map.

Strengths: TB3, improved teamplay
Weakness: CMT4

Enemy Quad
This team started out in the very bottom of the division system where they had a slow start playing only 3 games during EQL4 in division 6. They lost 5 maps and won 2 as they scored a total of 2 points. This seasons Enemy Quad features some better players than they are used to as they have signed Votary, Overdose and Antic. Also oldschooler Rocketz have joined their ranks and together with Iggy there isn?t much space left for the ?old? members of Enemy Quad when fielding their best lineup. Sad but true. Their performance in NQR10 consists of some ups and some downs as they have won 3 and lost 4 games this far. They had some expected losses versus O CLA, Psycho Haloons Crew, SmackThatAss and Mean Machine but they did really good to steal maps of both O CLA and Psycho Haloons Crew. It seems like E1M2 would be their best choice and this haven?t changed since Votary joined as he also is quite good here.

Strengths: Votary
Weakness: Big gap worst<->best player

Bear Beer Balalaika
I am glad to see the Russians back for another season as they had some bad luck last season missing the division 4 playoffs with only 2 points. This time around they have lost spz to another Russian clan and this will hurt their performance a bit. They always mix good games with poor ones and they need some consistency to make it to playoffs this time around. Their start in NQR10 Silver B have been fairly good winning 2 out of 5 games including a 2-1 win over Suddendeath2 with players like Votary and Xero. They got expected losses versus strong teams like Ballistic, JUGS and Fraggers United even though they managed to win a map nicely versus FU. In their 5th game they beat their countrymen Div Sub Zero 2-0.
These guys are hard to predict as they tend to win and lose on all maps and it seems like they don?t have a clear best map. I still have to say that they are good at DM2 and maybe a little worse on E1M2.

Strengths: Bagz and Bulat
Weakness: No clear best map

Chopstickninjas
It is always nice to see some comebacks and this time its is the Danes turn. Forsberg is naturally their main force here supported by other old school players. Its been a long time since these guys played competitive 4on4 and I think they will struggle a lot in the first 2-3 games before they get a good grip of quake again. After that they will earn points versus the weaker clans and possibly end up somewhere in the middle of the table.

Strengths: Forsberg
Weakness: Little practice, rusty

Magnum44
Where do all these Polish clans come from? They seem to pop up everywhere every time I turn around. Powered by Myca this Polish team is like all Polish ones possibly good at DM2 and weak on E1M2. That?s about it and I urge the community to fill in the blanks here. Perhaps Billy knows more? Or the players themselves?

Strenghts: Myca, DM2
Weakness: possibly E1M2 (wild guess here)

Shadow Minions
After living in the shadow of MM these guys have stepped into the light by splitting the clan in half. The guys who are left in this team are all on the same level and they usually play quite well together. They haven?t played a game so far in NQR10 Silver B and they seem a little inactive. I think they will get a hard time in both NQR10 and EQL5 now with their best players gone but as always its all about practice. They didn?t fare that well during EQL4 division 2 where they ended in 10th place out of 12 scoring 10 points in 9 games. Then again this is a different team in a different division and it will be exciting to see what they can perform this season.

Strength: Teamplay
Weakness: rusty

Boomstick Ownators
Another polish clan consisting of old BO members and players from The Pimps these guys have a lot of players and play fairly much. Last season they went as far as to the division 5 final in EQL under the name Pimps where they lost 0-3 to Clan Cube Squad. Their start of NQR10 has been good with 3 straight wins versus Corpse Grinders, J?garna and Drastic Collision though all these teams are a bit weaker than Boomstick Ownators. The team has improved a lot especially during last season when they played practice games versus Chosen. It really paid off since they won their division and also went to the finals as previously mentioned. They are good at DM2 and DM3 while a little worse on E1M2 but this seems to be default settings for polish clans.

Strengths: equally skilled players
Weakness: E1M2

Broilerfabriken
Peppe is back! And this time he brought his new friends a mishmash of players from all over Europe. Having played and lost only 1 official game so far this team haven?t really showed what they ar capable of yet. I reckon they will have to practice a lot if they want to reach higher places than the lower part of the standings this season. If they pull through this one and don?t fold I think they will learn a lot and get some teamplay going for next season. Still as they haven?t played a lot of games its hard to decide where they stand at the moment and with their best lineup they could cause some upsets for sure.

Strengths: Peppe?
Weakness: Few games, rusty teamplay

That?s it for now, but I hope to be back later to wrap up the season and be bashed for all my wrong predictions.
Good luck and see you guys at the end of the tunnel.
