div1 playoffs

Usually we have top4 teams in div1 to the playoffs but due to input from alot of div1 clans we have decided to change that rule.

Top8 teams will go to the playoffs with:
#1 vs #8 etc
The quarterfinals will be played between the 9th and 16th of December and the semifinals and final will be played during QHlan (3-6th of January 2008)

haha , everyone was afraid of not getting a playoff-spot in that div1 of death!
i can imagine the clan chans:

member1: omg , how can we reach playoffs with so many div0 teams there?
member2: ye no idea, we could prac alot?!
member3: or we could just whine to sassa and make it 8 clans to playoffs!

(and no , that was not taken from fs chan ;))

well i think its more fun with quartefinals since it gives more clans a chance at playoffs

some teams play better under pressure so it will be fun to watch these games for sure

imo only top 7 from div1 and let the winners of div2 take the last spot. Anyone finnishing 8th is a loser anyways

well it's nice like this, and especially since cmf and some other clans usually just goof around in group-stage and then take out the heavy stuff in playoff

I think this would be a good idea for div 5 too. With 17 teams, only 4 teams going to playoffs is kinda eh sad.
Would be fun with 8 teams or maybe 6 teams to playoffs

Yeah I agree, I write tons of schedules for big Ultimate Frisbee tournaments in the UK, and it makes loads of sense to have a quarter final - the most important game of which will be 4v5. Semis should then be 1v4 and 2v3 to find the top 2 teams most accurately. It means the group stage is more about making your quarterfinal easier than making the playoffs, though obviously each game still matters loads because you'd rather face 6th seed than 5th in quarters, etc.

Can't see any reason why this shouldn't be done for all divisions!

www.qhlan.org - but I don't think they have a site up (yet) for this year's lan.
