Signups, maps and more

We should have opened the signups by now so here is some information regarding that, the map pool and more.

Due to the qw.nu domain being offline for a couple of days we havent been able to put up the EQL14 page and start taking signups. However, we will try to get the EQL14 signups online as soon as possible. In the meantime you can always gather the old team and prepare with some pracs since its always easier for us when making divisions if we have some pracs to look at as well.

The map pool in EQL14 will be TB3. This because of not getting enough knowledge on which maps to include because of variating information of the quality of the maps, so we will need more time to see how they will work out in reality. That is why there is a plan on running a "kenya" tournament in order to figure out wich maps could be used to widen the pool to 5 or 7 maps in the future.

For that to happen we need a few new admins with interest in the "kenya" scene to help out with selecting maps and running the kenya league. You can also apply for an admin position in the regular league since we need help on that side as well, but we mostly need to know if there are new admins ready to run a kenya tournament.

Has gaz been around lately? I know he talked about running something simultaniously with EQL, that was supposed to be the exact "opposite" of EQL; If eql was tb3, he would run a 4on4 tourney with kenyas, if eql was with kenyas, his would be tb3 only.

I'm not sure if I was supposed to mention this at all, or if gaz got the time anymore to go through with it, but thought it would be worth mentioning since I also said yes to help out on such a project. If EQL:Kenya goes through, maybe Gaz wanna help out with it, or perhaps Gaz got something planning already and EQL:Kenya as such wouldn't be needed.

Anyways, I would gladly help admin such a tourney (i know jack shit about setting up such a tourney, but would gladly help confirm matches and go adolf h. on people in case of disagreement).

Last time I spoke to Gaz about possibly running another NQR season, few months ago, he said he didnt have time. Perhaps things have changed though.

3. Yeah id love to become as good as Para but lets not hope for Utopia shall we?

It didnt make sense to play some extra maps this season that hardly anyone have played or play the same shitty cmt1-3-4 maps yet again. Lets hope for a good kenya tourney so that we can see if there are any quality custom maps.

I think if we can't accept maps already released over the past 15 years then I wouldn't hold out much hope of finding something suitable. Maybe the best thing would be to just have EQL as a tb3 league for all future seasons and not waste any more time or resources debating or researching additional maps.

Even if a genuinely good new map was released players won't know it so it probably still won't work any better in practice than some of the maps that have already been tried in the short term.

Players would probably get to know new maps if a custom map tournament was created, clans signed up and then actually played their games.

It is really up to the clans and players to play new maps otherwise league admins have no chance whatsoever at including new maps in established tournaments.

To me it is obvious, so far, that new maps didnt have such a big impact on the scene as some players would like to believe. However, should the custom map tournament be succesful this time around there would be little to none problems to increase the pool to atleast 5 maps.

The old "include new maps and force clans to play them" obviously didnt work as maps like cmt1b, cmt3 and cmt4 didnt get enough attention to get playtime outside of the tournaments such as in mixes and pracs. At some points clans even agreed not to play custom maps unless they had to, such as in BO5 games.
