There has been suspicious players in our lower skilled divisions almost all seasons..

.. and once again there has been some fakers. I assume quite many aren't surprised and some do already know this.

Jack = Marvel / Pillo

Robocod = Pesto / Stickman (Edit: Yes, we know Stickman nick has been used by some swe players also. But has been used several time from Pestos ip aswell and is therefor mentioned)

Both are quite known UK players. So the punishments will be a little different for the players because of the following reasons:
Marvel has faked to join a lower division = 1 season ban +1 season ban for playing in 2 teams.
Stickman will get 1 season ban for faking to join a lower division.

There is also nothing that is not clear about their intentions. We have e-mails and match logs (with matching ips and config etc) to back up this.

The big question is what to do with the rest of the team (cBK)? What will happend with the games already played with this team? We have not decided yet what to do and will announce it as soon as we have found a suitable and most fair solution considering this case.

What marvel did was wrong. No doubt about it. A two season ban is pretty harsh though! Maybe you should lift a season for creating a great vibe in qw for the life of cbk. Ok after talking to marvel in irc on #cbk.qw, he explained his intentions to me and the rest of the players in cbk. He also apologised to all of us and said that he was only trying to get some fresh blood which i think he stated in an earlier post. After long debate and after i somewhat calmed down some, i would like to withdraw my earlier remark about a life ban, was kinda harsh! was still hoping to play in eql after all this, but its looking bleek now. Dunno what do u think?

I tried to watch from legal point of view.

I can't find any rule that you can't fake to join a lower division. Can someone give me the link?
Sometimes its impossible to track all player nicks. And since there are no any rule that you can't change a nickname, I don't thank that it legal to ban a player for that.

And technically, you can't ban Marvel for playing in two teams until he played a single map with LavaBeds .

Same apply to Anupko, who registered in two teams, but playing only in one of them.

So, probably it is a good idea to unban Marvel and allow him to coach his div3 team.

He was signed with the same nick by two different clans who both thought he would play with them. After Zalon told me that Anupko dropped from FA I also deleted him from that lineup.

There is also a difference with getting a new nick but telling everyone who asks that it is you. For example:

Fog renamed to swedish translation of his nick: Dimman

Hafog renamed to jj

Hagge renamed to "Sexy Ladies Underwear" but swiftly changed back when his girlfriend found out about it.

I think that all of you who are defending marvel (mostly ppl from div2) would be kinda pissed if some guys from div1 fakenicked and teamed up with other div2 players to steamroll div2. And dont compare to Koff, they are not fakenicking.

Personally, I spend a big amount of time in every division and do not piss about stuff like that.

Just sometimes I do not like admins work.

For example, WO drama in eql9 which didn't allow 3b to play in playoffs killed a good team. Few players lost motivation and left qw, few players do not play 4on4 anymore. And it was the only team for a long period of time who steal some maps from tVS in official games.

In that case we as a community can lost few players too.

Yeah you are still mad about that walkover business that made russians miss playoffs. Shouldnt you also accuse csn for faking in the NQR11 silver finals? That has usually been brought up when talking about crimes comitted against 3B.
Csn won 2 first maps easy and a lot of russians went ballistic in spec and after the game even tho 3B won in the end.

The community will always lose players who disagree heatedly about stuff, thats how a community develops. Some cant handle when things go against them and quit. If they didnt quit over some rule they would have quit after a loss or after something else. Ppl move on and its not mainly EQLs fault. Any league will leave someone disappointed, thats life.

It's pretty obvious that Marvels intensions was not to coach Div3 team as he first joined to Mofo and claimed that he's a newbie from QLive. After he raped us in internal pracc I was called "butthurt noob" because I didn't believe they were new to QW, nice guys eh?

If he would've wanted to coach a Div3 team he could've used his own nick, like Fix in In-A-Blaze.

Fakenickin and lying is not good for the scene in any way. I can't see any other reason for people to defend Marvel but that they've been faking themselves and think it's pretty nice to rape noobs.

About the ban:
Marvel should be banned to play in div1 for the rest of the quakeworld live. There he can respawn for sr and tvs. QTV slots will be full.
As far as I know this would be a real punishement for him.

Something I'm still not sure about is whether Robocod is actually pesto/stickman, or if he's an old QW player (he certainly knows of some oldskool clans) who has learned a lot of FPS moves in QL. Dominator I'm fairly confident is genuine and oblivious to marvel's antics, and has come across bad to a lot of people due to trusting his teammate and standing behind him which is unfortunate.

1 season ban is probably fine because if he really wanted to play he could just fakenick for a few months and play the season after anyway.

I'd really like to know whether robocod was proven to be pesto/stickman or whether that's just an educated guess, would be shame to ban him unfairly.

Checking from WG logs from the past 4 or so years.

Robocod having certain real-ip: 23 matches
Pesto (matches both ~pc~pesto and just pesto) having that same real-ip: 103 matches
stickman with the same real-ip: 103 matches

Other nicks being used by that same ip, but only few hits:

- Unnamed
- [tVS]Milton
- tiddles
- PISSED COB
- gibbs
- branco
- barker
- cupcake
- kiko
- crab

They all have the same rate (10000) and same drate depending on the client (fuhq 99999999, ezq 999999).

I have also configured the downloadable MVDSV+KTX server package in a way, that it resolves BOTH real-ip and proxy-ip so it is no use hiding behind a proxy, or ten. This also means every single server installed from that package logs your IP-address.

You can make the client to report wrong ip-address, if you know how to code and compile of course.

Also, dynamic IP-addresses might hit to a few players, but considering these hits are consistent over a longer period of time, and other setinfo stuff seems to match, I suspect there is just one person faking here.

I can't see how this would ruin things for two clans. Lava Beds is pretty much the same clan as Boefje. A clan that keeps on entering EQL season after season, but after they have registred they normally refuse to play any eql games (claiming they need prac to get back in shape). They start praccing for a few weeks and after a while they realize they won't have time to play their eql games. Then they stop playing entirely. They have enough members even without marvel, so if they want to play they should still be able to do so.

As for CBK they can still try to find replacements. The clan is not banned, only marvel and stickman (so is it gibbs or not, im confused? :S). Might not be the easiest thing to do when the season has already started, but they can at least give it a shot!
