Just because a team is in the top of a division it doesnt automatically mean that they would stand a chance in a higher division.

Also, we dont use the system where the top teams automatically are moved up each season anymore. It just didnt work. We make new divisions each season based on the teams at hand and their best possible lineups.

Tricky situation.. 5 teams in div1 _sucks_. Merging div1 and div2 would probably be nice in some way, but still suck since most div2 teams wont stand a chance, and it would be rapefest..

We decided to keep div1 for the absolute top clans this time.

There are enough div1 players still *around* to make a few more teams but other than that the rest of the teams arent good enough to compete. Its just a shame that so many div1 players have quit over the last 2-5 years.

Everyone can see the level of skill in div1, do you really really really believe that we (blt) would stand even a slightest of chance there? Would we come even close of winning ONE map? *NOT*. Ye sure we "outplayed" everyone last season for example by winning lastentarha in the final 3-2 and the last map by one frag :D We've all seen how top div2 clans make it in div1... fu, lastentarha, demolition crew etc... Just saying... :D

About Misters: few days ago Opel (team leader) said me about this situation: they will play without xpr in div3, but not in div2 with xpr.

Well people talk about how the current div2 teams would perform against div1 teams and so on, ever thought about ACTUALLY changing this and trying to close the gap?

I don't see how packing 16 teams in div2 and 5 teams in div1 would be a solution to this, the gap will just get bigger and bigger like how it all started years ago. I can go back 7 years when most starplayers of today played in div2, div2 was actually div1,5 back in those days, most of those teams could even make a decent result against the actual topteams of that time. Nowadays, I dunno, div2 seems to just serve one purpose, and that is some sort of retirement home for the lazy.

kapo, i played against you and i know how good you are, guys. Now you have Medar in your lineup. Iirc, he used to play in div1 team.

The thing is, there doesn't seem to be a plan for div1 at all. Admins just decide what teams are div1 and just bunch them together, this season we got 5 teams, if no new teams are made for next season we might have 4 teams if one drops out. Since div2 teams cant compete and if admins dont even decide to move the winner of div2 up to div1 then that just shows what the future holds for div1. I don't see the point in this at all, who wants to see 5 teams in div1 play eachother 3 teams or more a season? It's just ridiculous, if you take other popular games as an example the topteams are rarely seen playing eachother other than tournaments where they at most play eachother once, or twice at most.

Well it's multiple problems.
A lot of div1 players stopped playing. And a lot of those players are spread out over many teams, that makes each team short 1-2 player and unable to play. And they dont wanna pickup div2 players cause they know they wont be able to compete in div1 with teams like fom created and other teams have to stack up to keep up.

So they disband, and join div2 teams for relaxation and some action or retire - essentially leaving the arms race of div1.

So as I said before the season, I would like to see a lot more teams in div1. like 12 teams. Sure there are 3-4 favourite teams, but then there are 9 other teams that would have good and tight games.

Perhaps those other 9 teams would actually pick up those free div1 players and improve, that would be nice.

But it's hard for admins to "pick the future victims" from div2 pool and watch the whine fest begin :D

But that's how I would have preferred it anyhow.

In any case, we should start another smackdown tournament with groups. Completely different format from EQL.

5 teams per group, top 2 to playoffs A, next 2 to playoffs B, and last out. Put teams in groups by seeding. like 1 div1 in each, fillup with div2/3 teams for rest.

Perfect combo - each division play within their own division in eql, but play mixed games in smackdown :)

Divisions seems fine, though I would prefer to merge div 1 and 2, because it wouldnt make much of a difference to either FOM or SR winning ;)

Maybe if some Div2 teams are given the opportunity to compete at Div1, they would be able to recruit more Div1 players that are just playing at random, with no clans.

There are plenty of teams on Div2 and Div3 and, at one time, they should be able to improve by facing harder and better prepared clans @ Div1.

They may be not able to perform at their best in their first season but i bet they will practice and improve a lot more if given the opportunity.

I'll go further and, just an opinion, maybe it could be discussed between Div1 clans and EQL admins, who should be invited from Div2 to Div1.

Yep, 5 teams in div1 looks sad and it is. You shouldn't reduce the amount of teams in div1 if you want to keep the best players in the scene interested. Best solution in todays qw would be only one division with 30 teams, at least in my opinion. What's the difference being first in div3 or being 20. in the whole scene. Maybe it just is too disgusting to play vs better teams for someone or boring to play vs a lot worse teams for others. But what made me stop 4on4 qw at the end of last year was the total lack of any 4on4. Would have been same for me if it was prac or official or good/bad team to play vs but there wasnt any. If the best and the most interesting division is now 5 teams, im pretty sure tVS won't be the only team to stop in near future. :)

tVS didn't stop because there were no teams to play, and certainly with that premise it would be pretty retarded to break 2 div1 teams and create 1 that are even stronger than anything made before.

It's just that ihm/blaze/diki didn't wana continue without milt/xant. There were plenty of great .fi players to fillup and keep tvs going. You were part of the problem, stopped playing.

Div2 placed team can request to play in div1, but they don't want to.

Very few teams are able to keep same lineups for several seasons. It's mostly individual players who improve and then join a div1 team. Or the team recruits better players and improves that way.

well para, you like to talk about other teams and players doing things to improve div1, like fom should never have been started, we should have made 2-3 div1 teams instead, fusion shouldnt have quit, bla bla. I don't see how your trying to do anything to break from your div0 lineup, it's all about the other teams to make something happen. Face it, tvs died, fusion died. Without fom you would be sitting here with 4 teams instead of 5.

You are so wrong Paradoks. Everyone of milton blaze xantom and me got very frustrated not getting any game. Diki stopped playing a long time before we even took xantom to tvs. I said everyone in tvs and in public that Im not going to play 4on4 anymore. Then tVS still tried to take darkki to replace me. And tvs didnt get even one prac after taking darkki with the lineup xantom, darkki, milton and blaze. Xantom didnt leave tVS, he just wanted to continue to play. He asked many times if we still would like to play that he would continue with tVS if we played, but i said its better for him to try to get fom together if he want to continue playing. And after milton didnt want to play with that lineup anymore darkki went to sr and fom came back.

Well it's true that Div1 is "too small". But this is the solution for this season. Teams will meet 3x in division 1 so there will be enough games and these clans should really provide some really hot games. I also doubt that any team will drop out from the league which is also a reason why we did dare to take a risk like this.

One of the main reasons why it looks like this is that if we would have lifted a team or two up most probably 1-2/3 would have stopped playing. Then the situation would anyways have been the same. And choosing between which teams should be lifted would have been really hard, since so many clans are totally dependent on using lineup #1 in every game to have a chance to steal a map from any other team. So we will try this out this season and next season we might have a lots bigger division 1 once again... depends on how it works ofc, but it's not forgotten. This just simply felt like the right solution this season!

Btw, you may start playing your games. The questionmark clans may also play as soon as they've made up their minds on in which division they want to play! Now good luck!

ParadokS, why are you making things up? Where do you get that stuff. Ihminen announced to stop playing 4on4 like a year ago after EQL12. We tried to change his mind a few times, but he didn't want to anymore. XantoM asked many times if we'd still play, but since it became obvious we won't he decided to join up with his old mates I suppose. Milton rage quited later because of some completely non qw related tongue in cheek comments I made on our channel. :) Personally I'm spending half of my time in hotels in Sweden because of work and also have other plans that hopefully take me to the other side of the globe so I don't have time, and frankly looking at the state of div1, interest to play anymore. Just to clear things out. Over and out.

And as the bitter tone in Paradoks' message i suppose we wont be seeing him playing pracs vs fom so even less games in div1.

Are you guys serious?! 16 teams in div2 and 5 in div1? I really hope you will make some changes. You should add atleast 4 or 5 teams to div1 to make it a bit more fun. Blt won div2 twice in a row for instance. And there are more clans that should be able to give it a go in div1..

How about enlarging/splitting playoffs, possibly into playoffs-high and playoffs-low?

All div1 teams are qualified for playoffs-high, they play the pre-season for the qualification ranking in the playoffs. Either top 3 or top 11 (depends on whether you want to start with quarter finals or 1/8 finals) of div2 also make it to the high playoffs and play the div 1 teams (Div1 winner against 3rd/11th of div2 etc.). 12-16th of div2 and top 3 of div3 play in the low playoffs.

Just an idea, which might add some variety for cross divisional games and actually give those "bored" div1 teams a change and incentive for playing the same teams over and over again.
