Im not sure why you think BLT would be able to do well versus any of the current 5 div1 clans.

Also, in #48, more fun for who? Everytime we try to add the top div2 teams to div1 90% of them just whine and quit playing/avoid to play the top clans. That isnt fun for anyone.

This isnt exactly an admin problem, the problem is that so many of the good players dont play anymore or are scattered among mid-div2 clans making them high-div2 instead. Still not close to being div1.

Well, the key problem is that at some point in QW history the responsibility for interesting and fair games was appointed to the league admins. Instead of acknowledging to oneself "We got owned, we need to prac more in order to compete", it now is en vogue to blame the admins, league structure etc.

I find a 5 teams' division stupid. No matter how much "sense" it makes that no 6th team can be good enough to get interesting games and most likely will not even turn up. However, it's wrong to blame the admins for that. People demand equal games, equal conditions, equal pings, equal colours, equal skins, otherwise they quit :-)

Exactly andy, the problem is that people are spoiled rotten on some divisions that doesn't really matter for anything other than to let newcomers play in some sort of league of their own to improve in their own tempo rather than introduce them to a 500-0 rape vs a div1 team, we're talking divisions 2 teams here for gods sake, most of these people have played the game for as long (even longer) than some of the players competing in division 1. We can go back til the days of Challenge Smackdown that was a very succesful league without divions, game were still played and alot of very interesting games to say the least, even back then to be realistic only 2 teams were battling for the title with a few teams that had a slim chance for it, much like div1 today. The thing that hooraytio is saying about "lots of good players being scattered among div2 teams that doesn't have a realistic chance to compete in div1" has been a big problem for years, I can probably count 15+ players that could compete in div1 that are all scattered in various lesser good teams just for the sake of avoiding any form of competition. I just don't see the point of even marketing something as a competitive league when in reality its not. Competition in qw died with the divisions.

I agree with the previous posts. With these teams I'd put the very worst into div2 and the rest into the premium league. The best would still win, most games would be somewhat interesting and complete rookies would have some mercy in getting into the game.

5 teams in a div doesn't make any sense. Why not then go all the way and have f0m vs SR official prac every half a year and not even bother with the league.

Well I wasn't planning on playing quake at all this season untill chosen had some problems with not enough players, aswell as me and zero needed to take a break from haxball after raping everyone so hard for so long =)

If I was the admin:

16 teams in div1
16 teams in div2

(rougly)

Then every div would have plenty of matches vs different opponents (sure, some rapes, but this is a tournament?).

Anyways, looking forward to the season and I ain't gonna complain anymore now that things are what they are.

As boys told you I have retired "pro" Quake years ago but came back for Qhlan and fall EQL. After I finished my school, moved and started worklife I dont have anymore stable connection or time to play (gf and sports taking much time too).

Actually that happened to Xantom, Milton, Blaze too so I guess this just a normal situation in life and sometimes you have to move on. Seems like some of them can still find more time for quake and thats nice. I joined a div2 team cause Im so far from div1 skill level and I would only be disadvantage for any div1 team. Hope I can play some EQL games or atleast spec some :)

I also think its good idea to play many tight matches than just a few. Rapes are just a waste of time for both. Skill difference is just too huge.

As a president member of Paras I say: Remove maga and put us back to div3 where we belong!

And about this "div1 players who aren't in div1 should band together and create a team" idea, I support it fully, just tell me how to get ahold of pietro, nabbe and dag.

I don't mind the current system, I have no problem playing the same teams multiple times.
I rather play close and exciting games, those are the only ones that is actually fun..
in every other season there is always those games where you already know you will win. It's just boring..

Always so funny to see Diki explain how retired he is for so many years yet he still shows up on the stats page as one of the most active players for YEARS. And I am not talking little numbers, last season he multiplied my play time with at least 8 times.

I can't be bothered to keep playing the same teams over and over again. Any div2 team that DOES want to play in div1 needs a player? =:)

Also maga retired from pro qw years ago, didnt he? Refused to play with tVS div1 4on4 games, refused to update his teammessages etc. Playing a lot everything else than div1 4on4 doesn't mean you try to compete in the top, you need to be willing to do it. You don't have to be so aggressive all the time sr guys :P

Not sure if I'm one of these 15+ players, but it's always not as easy as you make it. I'm definately not in div2 for the sake of avoiding any form of competition. I'm in div2 because no div1 clan wants me and I don't have enough time to start my own div1 team :E

Instead I have to play semi active in div2 instead of active in div1. I have always liked competition which was the reason for getting my clan Campbusters to div1 when I had just been playing qw for a bit less than a year. After a lot of bashing we became a stable div1 team and even finished 6th behind teams like SR, CMF, FS, Disorder. This kind of journey is more than possible and I wish more people would realize it and be bothered to at least give it a go.

indeed hooraytio, marv and batfink can be added to the list! , my own team is probably not winning gold in div1, but even stealing a map or putting the top teams to the test with close games is what its all about ,

afterwards we say GG and we mean it, and div1 quakeworld is the ultimate goal in this game imo :)


so, all you players who have played this game for years and years upon years, maybe its time to take it to the next level, maybe you should have a long time ago, someone said "players might just wanna have some fun and play some 4on4, well thats exactly what we in crazy88 are planning to do, playing some nice div1 action and have fun, win or lose.

Every time the same shit talk by SR or you: how and why did tVS retire and how much they still play. Who they should play with. Should we know this better than you? :)

I may have played more Quake in my life than you but so have Dag, Anza, Rakke etc. who cares... its all about attitude you LIKE to play with. And this "pro quake" term you can check from previous conversations. For 10th time I havent or I wont retire QW completly. This year I have played 66 rounds of 4on4 (168 past year) and you 353 (536 past year) + secret server games. So with your math its 8 times more... I got it.

I know Im still better than you and I should play in div1 but my ping just happens to be over 100 and pl +20 almost every night so that is too huge handicap. Maybe I will give a new try for Div1 after this season when I finally got a own Internet connection but still Im able to play only 10-20% of games.

In my opinion once you have reached div1 skill in tp you don't need 20 4on4 a week to keep that same level. If you however play multiple hours a week 1on1/2on2 WHATEVER it will keep your skill up.
If you start to play 4on4 again non stop it won't make you much better then what you are now, maybe it will sharper up some edges that gives you 5 % more then you have now.

Maybe we can meet in div2 :)

DC changed their div1 request to div2 so thats all about forcing div2ish clans to div1 and all that yadayada etc.

You should remember well that they didnt allow me to join FU (div2). So I had to join FT. We had this activity conversation then...

And I dont agree with you, playing some pov or dm4 2on2 with 100ms and wireless mouse doesnt help your aiming much in 4on4. And soon without 4on4 gaming you will be rusty with timings and tiny things like walking on spawns etc. Those are the things that matters in div1.

On the other hand if you just play alot of COD or BF, QW feels kind of easy.

What about splitting the teams into div1A, div1B and div2 (= current div3)? Then in later stage of the tournament top teams from div1A + div1B would face each other (in group or playoff, not important). = less rapes, everyone will get to play regular div2 teams but also a few clearly div1 teams. Hm?

Alot of interesting suggestions. If not for this season we will absolutely think about our system for the upcoming seasons.
