League system

This is how things will work this season.

The 23 teams will be divided into two (2) equally skilled groups according to a seeding made by the EQL admins. This means that we are not using 3 or more divisions based on skill and/or previous known clan performance like we have in previous season. The reason for this has been put out there in previous news posts.

The groups will be called A and B in order to make it easier for the clans to distinguish between the two groups. Group A will hold 11 teams and group B will hold 12 teams. Should a team sign up late it will be added to group A. Should more teams sign up late they will be evenly distributed between the two groups.

The regular season will run for 7 weeks, starting on wednesday the 29th of february and end on sunday the 8th of april. During this time each clan shall play versus the other clans in their group once.

There will be three (3) different playoffs based on the final standings in each group.

The winner of each group will go directly to the Gold tier semifinals where they will meet the winner of the quartefinal between the runner up from the other group and the 3rd placed clan from their own group.

Clans ending on places 4 through 7 will enter the Silver tier playoffs where they will meet a clan from the other group in the quarterfinals. 4vs7 and 5vs6 respectively.

Clans ending on places 8 through 11 will enter the Bronze tier playoffs where they will meet a clan from the other group in the quarterfinals. 8vs11 and 9vs10 respectively.

As of now this leaves the last clan, 12th placed, of group B outside of playoffs. Should all clans stay active we are leaning towards having a qualification game between clan 11 and 12 of group B so that every clan get a post-season game.

All regular season games are to be played best out of three (BO3) and all playoff games are to be played best out of five (BO5).

The groups will be up later tonight and you should be able to start playing no later than tomorrow.

If you go with this format then I think group A and B should have the following seeds:

A: 1,3,5, 8,10,12,14, 15,17,19,21,
B: 2,4,6, 7,9,11,13, 16,18,20,22,23

This means the group matchups for the QF boundaries are of closest seeds possible, i.e. 6v7, 14v15.

This format does mean that clans that lose the 2v3 quarter finals (seeds 3v6 and 4v5) only get to play one last sad game for 5th place... why the decision to break the groups into batches of 8 from the bottom rather than the top? Because seed 1v8 and 2v7 QF matches would be rape? Usually the lower down tiers have to deal with the odd numbers rather than the highest... to sort out the bottom 7 you could do a semi+final for 1-4 theb a three-way round robin for 5,6,7.

These are just wonderings and suggestions really, there's nothing wrong with the way you've set it up atm, looking forward to the season.

Would be very surprised if 23rd clan is active enough to play their potential qualification game against 22nd!

equally skilled lol. we'll get totally nuked every game this season, _possibly_ closeish vs sta but every other team has at least one div1 player.. stupid me didn't go for any :E

What's all this whine about getting raped? Your placement in the groupstages decides in which playoff you end up in. It's based on the team's performance, and thus you will face the perfect teams in the playoffs. This means any team can end up in any playoff, depending on your performance. How could this ever be worse than the old system? :-)

If you get bored of losing - get better and stop slacking. If you don't try to get better, you'll keep losing. Live with it. Same applies to real life.
