T-minus two days until launch

2006-09-16 14:37 by ?ke Vader

It's soon time for kick off in the European Quake League and i'm afraid i have some sad news about some things we won't see in EQL this season.

If you have read my first news post then you know that we promised a fixed schedule this season of EQL. I can now tell you that this won't happen due to real life business taking too much time from me. It's a combination of school, bad planning and lazyness from my side that caused this. This also means that we won't have any kind of fragstats this season, which would've been fun since that's a feature we are really lacking. I apologize for all this and hope that you will enjoy the league anyway.

Despite all this we can hopefully find some comfort in the good news this season - the fact that we have no less than 62 clans who will battle it out in EQL4. That's about five less than last season but even if the amount of signed teams is lower i hope that the amount of teams who played all their games and didn't drop/wasn't kicked is higher when this season is over. It doesn't matter if your team is signed on a list if you won't play your games, right?

I now hope that you're all practicing like mad to become the next EQL champion and i wish you the best of luck and that many fullstarts shall help you on the road to victory!

Update
Don't forget to make your voice heard in the map vote! When you login with your team then it says "votes" in the team menu. Select the map vote poll and choose your desired option!

i dont really feel sorry for that fixed sched not beeing implemented

tho it would be fun to have fragstats even when its not that hard to atleast count your own frags at the end of the season :)

gl to all teams

fixed schedule was a very good idea imo, it let you plan your games easier, and actually make you play instead of "we lost to div10 today, so lets not play any eql this week" kinds of things.

hopefully we can fight this anyway tho

#6 2006-09-16 15:50 by Jenna15 (62.142.245.XXX)

gr8.. that schedule was like the most idiotic idea in a while..

#7 2006-09-16 16:10 by mx (213.94.255.XXX)

as idiotic as your div whine, Jenna15?

No fixed schedule = GG :)
And btw, don't think all the qw players are back from their summerbreak so 5 clans less is prolly just temporary. Atleast i hope so :F

You could ask to use Ult's fragstats prog that he used for the NA tourney it was magnificent, graphs and all that.

about the stats thing: try check out that 2on2 tourny in the us that used some thing that automatically counted stats when you uploaded an mvd.
it counted all kinds of stats like how many armors or quads a player has taken and loads more :)

#12 2006-09-17 15:41 by Term (85.226.178.XXX)

URL to them stats?

#13 2006-09-17 22:32 by peppe (82.212.77.XXX)

qw.na is down or smth
but empezar made a little stat-reader that read off the logs from qw.

I begun working on such a thing too. I'm not too sure about log files though, they're easy to tamper with if you want to improve your accuracy to match the ones Ilf would submit. Compared to the MVD approach though i think the advantage with log files is that they're easy to get and you know that they are always possible to get from a game, not all servers record mvd's. Is the same information that you can get from an MVD stored in a qwd too?

Using logs/mvd's to get stats would open up for a _very_ advanced stats tool, that's for sure.

ake -> mvd and qwd contains the same informations, just the format of a file is different (+ mvd is multi pov)

QW.US is likely gone forever, but I'd be really surprised if ult didn't save the stats/mvd stuff. I'm sure he'd let EQL use it, but you just have to figure out how to contact him and implement it. Best stats I've seen, too bad he could never figure out all the mvd format or it'd have been better. :)
