2009-04-27 00:20 byAfter 10 long weeks of a lot, really a lot of great games the EQL9 group games has come to an end. As we stated pre-season and what has been stated in rules is that not playing all of your games will be punished by point deductions. As you will see this particilarly strike one team in division 1...
Before this season started, we were discussing how we would get rid of the almost standard inactivity that hits the scene mid-season of tournaments. We figured at first we could use point deductions only, and this was our first solution. We soon came to realise that, even though it might work in theory, it wont work that simple in reality. So we made it that way that WO's are still given out like the old system and combined it with point deductions which now became final solution.
As stated in rules; giving WO to another team will works as usual, with the addon that the team giving the WO will face a deduction of 1 point. Unfortunately for the scene, this affected especially Bear Beer Balalaika in division 1 pretty hard. 3B lost 3 points (the game between SD and 3B is voided due to both teams being inactive), making them end up on 10th place and missing playoffs.
In the situations where 2 active teams have been unable to field 4 players at the same time to play their game, games will end 1-1 giving 2 points to each team. (points from a 2-0 map-win (3-1 in points) got 2-2 in points in other words).

Since BLT, Axemen2 and PHC have stopped playing, but played enough games to not get kicked, their remaining games have been declared to be walkovers. The only interesting, unplayed game between two active teams was TOC vs SSC which have been judged a draw giving each team 2 points. This is because both teams have asked each other to play on several occasions but for varioues reasons have been unable to get the game played.
Division 2 - Quarter-finals:

In this division 4 teams ended up being inactive at the end of the season, three of these had enough played games to not be removed. The 4th team AMFW only had 5 played matches, but we kept the team in for historical reasons.

Let me explain the situations:
First this johnny_cz:

I can only recall one time that 3B has asked us to play when
we couldn't for some reason. If people feel like digging
deeper, please go find ServeMe-spams from several weeks back
from everyone in Quakeklan. I have joined #qw.ru asked 3B
for EQL for several weeks without an answer. I've got no
answer from any 3B people at all most times, one time if I
remembered right B1aze responded that they couldn't play. I
talked to other clans that hasn't been able to get an answer
from 3B either, and everyone says the same: "We can't get a
hold of 3B nor scheduale a game with them". 3B is just
pissed because their plan to only play necessary games to
get into playoffs didn't work this time. PLAY YOUR GAMES AND
THIS WON'T HAPPEN.
Regarding Axemen vs 3B: Axe lost a couple of members
midseason, but i've been in contact with them and they have
been trying to solve the situation. At last we agreed to
merge Axe#1 and Axe#2, and they have showed us that they
wan't to play, something 3B hasn't done at all, not even
responding when trying to get a hold of them. If new
information gets up here we could discuss another solution
depending on what Axe and 3B says about the situation.
It's funny the stuff you are coming up with now B1aze. You
say the following:
"The ONLY team who asked about game was Druidz."
"Vs every one else we play as soon as possible"
"we played vs all teams who want to play vs us"
Who do you wanna fool, seriously? Several clans as i said
has come to me telling me they can't get a hold of you! And
I tried myself to get a hold of you and I haven't been able
to reach you at all. That's fact.
And jfyi: I'm NOT alone responsible for these decisions.

My biggest concern isnt really the w.o given to axemen vs 3b
(even tho I think its questionable) but the fact that two
teams who has been about equally active (counting the whole
season) and played 7games each.
I question the system that give a team who has won 0 games
vs one who has won 5.5 the playoff spot based on WO only. I
think there is a flaw somewhere.
I wont cry, because Im not the ones affected by this
personally. But I hope that there might be some thinking
about this atleast. If this is final, then for next season.

Hard to say who deserves what really. I cant say neither 3b
or Axemen did a great effort to schedule the game, but at
least we tried two times more than 3b (who didnt try at all
and didnt even reply to our msgs on IRC). So who should get
the WO then? A team who at least did a halfhearted attempt
to get the game played, or the team whos probably better and
probably would have won but did no effort to get the game
played at all and didn't even answer to our attempts to get
the game played. (no hard feelings here 3b, i think you are
a bunch of great players!)

At least Axemen has been inactive most of the season. I
think it's questionable to give them wo over 3b.
That said, many teams managed to play all the games so
getting into playoffs was in everyone's own hands. You can't
really complain if u managed to play only half of the games
or less.

We wanted to play as late as possible only vs tvs, drz and
sr, be course we wanted to be in better shape. Vs all others
we play as soon as possible. Just for example: tried to play
few times vs wait-we-check-if-kp-awake clan right after they
another eql game. And that particular situation is
hilarious.

Ok I just realized something that I think is kinda sick.
(YES I feel sorry for the russians that they are not in the
playoffs).
Quakeklan 8played - 2 wins, 2mapwins (thats fine)
Dies Ater 8played - 1 win
The Axemen 7played - 0 wins
3b 7played - 5 wins, 1mapwin (against tVS, not that it
matters pointwise)
