Summary of Week 1!

2009-02-22 16:43 by zappater

Week 1 has passed and we have a few new leaders as tVS dominates, SSC sharpen their knives and Na fianna bounces their opponents around. Read more to find out who kicked ass and whose was kicked!

The first week has ended and while div1 and 2 started out slow, div3 has been very active with a total of 7 games. From all the admins of EQL, thank you div3.

Div3 started with In a Blaze taking on The Powerless Amebas, however both clans are filled with slackers unable to upload two demos so we can't have a review of this game. With that said, ABLZ took down TPA on both dm2 and dm3 with the scores being 236-96 & 164-104. Match info
Continuing to approach the light, ABLZ took on Bacon men. Proving once and for all that with strong enough sunshine you can fry bacon as they steam rolled BM on dm2 with a score of 265-44. However, having not cooked them enough ABLZ must have got ill as they were not able to gain control of the castle until the 9th minute when Mel single handedly took out BM. But this would not last as BM successfully pushed through in the 11th minute, gaining control and winning e1m2 with the score 164-225. It was all going to be decided on that forsaken base. Sharing the power ups between the teams, it was ultimately BM who had taken pent that would come out on top. But their inability to take advantage of map control and several bad quads let ABLZ come back, as they stole the quad in the 6th minute and used it to great success. ABLZ now in control, equalised and took the lead. Everything was going smooth, until the 15th minute when BM got the quad and started to take back some control. BM taking the next quad as well meant control of the map had once again changed hands and they started to catch up with ABLZ. But it would all be futile as time ran out and the scoreboard showed 142-126. Match Info & demos

Bacon Men, not feeling that they where done yet they charged Fallen Angels. FA feeling at home on e1m2 pushed back BM as they won with 168-215. On dm2 it was BM's turn to show who ruled the area as they narrowly defeated FA with a score of 146-136. Again it was the lonely base that would decide everything and again it was BM that would draw the short stick as FA chopped them to pieces. The score ended 118-134. Match Info

The EQL8 div6 winners Comfortably Numb having a new line-up took on Quinas and while digging Pink Floyd had helped them in the past, it seems like this time Floyd preferred the sun of Portugal as Quinas just walked over CN. DM3 ended 106-199 and with a destroyed moral dm2 crashed in on them as the scored ended 80-246. Match Info
Na Fianna, known for their love of Kenya showed that they can fare well on TB3 as they destroyed Mob of Oddballs on both dm2 and e1m2 with the scores 235-33 and 198-70. Match Info
Then it was time for Bloodpunch to take the hit as they where overpowered on dm2, the score ending 227-114. Turning tail BP ran to defend their abandoned home. However the comfort of their home would not be enough as fian took the win by barely 18 frags, ending it 145-127. Match Info

Ending div3 we have the newly formed Legion of Doom taking on TPA. First up was dm2, TPA quickly took control over the map, something they where unable to capitalise on. Not letting this invitation into the game slip, doom quickly took advantage of TPAs inabilities and by the fifth minute the game was equalised. Chaos ensued and oddly enough it was the daemons of quakeworld that bit by bit restored order. By then end, dm2 was a place filled with terror as TPA lost 237-93. demo of dm2
Dm3 started with Doom taking pent and TPA getting quad. The team coming out on top after the first minute was Doom who had a solid control over the map for the first 10 minutes, but TPA would not surrender as they started to steal more quads and even one pent breaking dooms control and the last minutes was all TPA. In the end, it was all to late and the game ended 140-133. Match Info & demo of dm3

Div2 was slaughtered into action by the Satanic Slaughter Clan who unfortunately for them had forgot their knives at home as Fraggers United brought them down on dm3 quite easily with a score of 70-219. While the damned atmosphere of e1m2 favoured SSC, giving them the first quad FU quickly took it down and seized control of the map. The minutes passed and SSC put up a good resistance and by the 8th minute they where rewarded with their first solid quad run, something that would be a rarity for this game as quads where killed almost as soon as they where grabbed for both sides. The real fight would instead take place at YA, with FU coming out on top giving them the win by a score of 148-186. Match Info & demos

However this setback did not stop them as they now with knives in hand charged right into and through the Bukkake Samurai's of quakeworld. While they initially met resistance on dm2 ending it with a score of 226-163 they completely shattered the rest of the samurai's forces on dm3 ending in a score of 274-71. Match Info & demos

In div1 The Viper Squad are showing us promise of one more season filled with dominance as they crushed Hippushnik with a score of 471-30 on dm2 with Milton reaching a staggering score of 153 frags, and finishing it off with 357-98 on e1m2. For a more in detail write-up on the game, head over to Rocketz site. Match Info
We also saw Clan Malfunction taking on Quakeklan. Footage is missing, but the scores reveal a thrilling game on dm2 as CMF defeated QK 156-109.
DM3 started and CMF instantly took control as mazer got both ring and quad while Fifi grabbed pent however this would all be for nothing as QK got the first two RLs allowing them to grab the subsequent quad and lead. This would not last long, as CMF fought back QK, not losing control of the map again until the 12th minute when fog stole the quad. QK however wasn't able to do an equal job to CMF and during the last few minutes lost control and the map. Match Info & demo of dm3
For those of you wanting your frag of the week, don't forget to see Fog tear Fix a new one during the 9th minute of the map.

As a last note to all the teams, please upload your demos to CH-TV and give your suggestion for the next weeks featured frag.
