Division 1 3rd Update

2013-05-07 11:44 by Hooraytio

Here is a look at what has been going on in Division 1 lately.

Division 1 update 3

Since my last update the clans of division 1 has played another seven games. Just before I wrote this update Demolition Crew woke up and played a game. Lets hope that they can find time for a few more games during this last week of group games. Suddendeath 2 is the only team left with 0 games played and time is really running out for them.

Oclan has played another three games sporting two wins, against ATG and CSN, while coming very close to win both maps in their 0-2 loss to tVS. The addition of Rikoll really helped Oclan on their way to try and secure a spot in the A-playoffs. Like I said before the game versus ATG was the key and Oclan took it home 2-1 after a really nice effort on DM2/DM3. ATG found a way to take home E1M2 with stunning play from Hlt. The game versus Chosen did not feature Rikoll but Oclan still managed to win quite decisively. These guys can really cause an upset in the A-playoffs given how well they have played as of late.

The Viper Squad has also been active bagging another three 2-0 wins against Oclan, Crazy88 and Chosen. It looked like tVS was surprised by how good Oclan played since Oclan came so close to win in both maps. In the end it was the routine and experience that paid off for tVS. Their game versus Chosen was extremely one sided on DM2 when tVS got off to a great start and never let go of their grip. Chosen had a few chances to attack with 2-3 RLs but they were just not good enough to threaten tVS firm hold of water/quad. E1M2 on the other hand was even for 6-8 minutes as CSN were able to take or kill a lot of the RLs at the start of the game. Then tVS was able to move RLs to YA and their lead increased from there. Their game versus Crazy88 also turned out to be quite one sided as C88 didn’t have niether kingpin on DM3 nor moltas on DM2. tVS sure look like a top contender for the title this season.

Chosen has featured in three games, losing 0-2 to both tVS and Oclan as described above. They had a good chance on E1M2 against both opponents but in the game versus tVS it was just a matter of time and skill before tVS pulled away frag wise. Oclan also turned out to be too strong even though CSN came a lot closer here than against tVS. CSN also found four guys from DC on a server and an EQL game was soon under way. The game turned out to be a real close story with DC taking home DM2 while CSN won on E1M2 and DM3. This matchup is a real classic, dating back as far as 2005, with the teams often splitting the points in a three map contest.

Crazy88 also played a couple of games since my last update. First they faced tVS and got whopped 2-0 while lacking a few key players. They bounced right back, however, with a nice 2-0 win versus the Black Ants who didn’t have much to do against this top3 team who won DM3 and DM2 quite easily. C88 will most likely be a threat to both Suddendeath and tVs when the playoffs start. Still we don’t know the exact matchups for the semifinals so this last week will be interesting indeed.

Anzas Tappra Gossar lost the most important game of the season when they were taken down 1-2 against Oclan. Their hopes of getting into A-playoffs rests in the arms of tVS, C88 and SD as ATG need to win maps versus two of these clans or even win against one of them should they lose 0-2 to the others. They also have a lot of games to play versus the clans in the lower end of the table and time is running out. As things are looking now it seems like ATG will have to aim for B-playoff finals. Anything else would be considered quite the upset.

Suddendeath didn’t play any games during this stretch but I am not sure if it is because of them or their opponents. I have had indications that they has had a hard time getting someone to play against and I hope they manage to play a few more games this last week.

The Black Ants managed to get another game played when losing 0-2 to C88 but their pace is really low and they have a hard time gathering four guys to play. They need a few more games if they want a chance in the B-playoffs. The same goes for FU, DC and Immortals while I have totally given up my hopes for SD2 this season.

Actually Trash has played alot of 4on4. His team even won the div2 final in the latest season of Salvation. Rio has played a few seasons with CSN and also won Salvation div2 with Trash. Andeh and Locktar are perhaps more interested in 1on1 but still... I guess they could have needed Lethalwiz and/or m0lle but they didnt have time...

It was an unfortunate combination of both Trash and ok98 being away long periods during this season. If it wasnt for that Im sure they would have played alot fielding Trash, ok98, rio and sajko/locktar/andeh as 4th.

Hooraytio is correct regarding sd2. It´s really unfortunate and I feel bad for alot of the teams who were robbed of some great and even games.

Regarding SD not playing, there could have been games played during this week. The reason no games were played wasn´t really on our end though. Hopefully our opponents will get a sense of urgency now that the season is approaching it´s end.
