Here is a look at the division 2 quarter finals.

Division 2 Playoffs Preview

After a season with much more activity amongst the lower skilled clans compared to EQL15 time has come for the playoffs. Out of the nine clans in division 2 eight have proceeded to the playoffs. The clans will battle for spots in the semifinals in a best of 5 played on DM2, DM3 and E1M2. First all three maps will be played and unless a clan has won all three the game will continue with the clans picking one map at the time until one of them reach three wins.


Pew Pew Blaster versus Fnu Klan

Russian clan Pew Pew Blaster has played five games and only lost 0-2 to Paras while winning all other games 2-0. Their best map is DM2 where they have won three times out of three. Their weakness is DM3 where they do have a 67% win rate but also a lower frag count compared to the other maps. Their best players are Dot and Vvd and these guys will be a tough opponent to any clan in division 2.

Fnu had a hard time in this their comeback season losing 4 games 0-2. Even with the addition of Adde they couldn’t quite catch up to the pace of their opponents. E1M2 should be their best chance at scoring a map win here against Pew but on DM2 and DM3 they are just not good enough to rock the Russians.

My prediction here is a 3-0 for Pew and an early exit for FNU this season.


Paras versus Froggers

Paras had some problems getting games played but in the games they did play we saw a very strong team. Junkass and Feari lead the charge as they took down fellow top teams Pew and Lost Legion. Tenhi and Panjabi also played well and it would have been interesting to see Paras versus Mofo during the regular season as I suspect that one of them will take home the title. Pitted against division 2 clans Paras has no real weakness except the day form and mood of Junkass. He must perform well against the tougher teams in these playoffs.

Froggers has yet to win a map this season as the team lost all three games they played 0-2. However, the addition on wimpeeh could very well be what they need to shake Paras a little. Still if you compare these clans player for player Paras are the stronger team on all maps and during a best of five I have a really hard time seeing Froggers win more than 1 map.

Anything else than a 3-0 for Paras here would be a sensation and if Froggers win it would be the upset of the season.


Lost Legion versus Tactical & Powerful Amigos

Lost legion started out really well and were in the top spots for the majority of the season. They hit a bump versus Paras losing 1-2 and when Mofo woke up late in the season Lost Legion faced their only 0-2 defeat in their 6 games played. Their best map is DM2 where they only lost one out of five so far. Gore and Nitemare are their most valuable players along with Atrophy but he has played very little so far.

Tactical & Powerful Amigos lost all of their three games 0-2 but it was versus three of the top four clans in division 2. It would have been interesting to see them play against FNU and Froggers to see their real potential. They struggle on all three maps but E1M2 could go their way if they have their top lineup of Mipa, Itsinen, Vortex and Natas.

I predict another 3-0 here in favour of Lost legion and a map win for TPA would be a really nice feat for them to end their season with.


Division 99 versus Mob of Oddballs

Division 99 where active with both pracs and official games right of the bat this season and have quickly established themselves as middle team in division 2. Winning three games 2-0 versus FNU, TPA and Froggers just got them a place inside the top 4. However, since late starters Mofo ended up at 5th place the quarter final for D99 will be very hard. In their four 0-2 games they only came close to winning maps versus Pew and Lost Legion. While not being their statistically best map, E1M2 is still the map where they should be able to hurt Mofo a little. D99 has also played good on DM3 but Mofo are even better on that one. If they are able to field Badass, Desmo, Tsobo and Ocoini they will pose a threat to Mofo in this game.

Mob of Oddballs idled for a long time and were facing elimination when they finally started playing. And what a start it was. In three straight games they beat Fnu, D99 and LL with only LL posing a real threat for Mofo losing a map. Dirtbox, Driz and Darff have led the charge and they seem equally good on all three maps. I would have liked to see them take on Pew or Paras but I guess we will see one of those matchups later in the playoffs.

Possibly a 3-1 here for Mofos if D99 bring their best lineup and good form.
