As you probably have noticed there is only until monday night 23:59 CET to signup. We will also...

... start making decisions about the amount of clans in the divisions tonight (sunday). We do not expect 5 or more clans to signup after tonight. So for those who haven't signed up I suggest you do it tonight just to help us out. The season and schedules should be up by wednesday night.

There has been some questions about antilag. It is either "on" or "off", it's still the ping that is the decider considering the server. But we hope the antilag will make it easier for you to choose servers.

If you are up for writing previews or reviews during the season. Please contact us about it asap. I am quite sure we will get a couple of previews but we want as many as possibile.

Some people are now also confused because of some major discussions if it is tb3 only or "tb5". Well the answer is that it is still tb5. You will know the last maps tomorrow night (monday). And if you want to talk about this decision do it here: http://www.quakeworld.nu/news/621/#comments .

The EQLadder will also startup soonish after EQL12 gets going. So we hope to see all the teams participate in it. I believe quite many will play ladder games instead of just for fun pracs and this will be ofc something that will keep this ladder active aswell.

Also, get signed up for QHLAN aswell. It is probably going to be the biggest QH in quite a while and there will be lots of people. With ~2250€ in the prize pool I hope we will see some hot duel players aswell as teams! The page can be found @ http://www.qhlan.org/qhlan14/

It seems like a pretty simple choice to me. EQL11 clearly benefited from 3 relatively large divisions, and this season looks to have only one extra team per division.

That doesn't seem like a good enough reason to add an entire division, especially since it would be approximately the same size as the EQL 10 divisions, which ended up being a disaster for div1.

I agree with Medar, a big division 1 is a must to keep the activity up, all else is will be like eql 10 where it initially started with 6 teams but had FS dropping out leaving 5 teams left. A bigger division will see the bottom teams getting a few good games as well, and after all this season is tb5 and much like EQL 10 a few teams will prac the kenya maps hard to get an advantage. I think this season is already looking more promising than last season for example, you CCCP who are really good as always, Sauna has improved with the addition of Creature as well. Definitely going to a lot more tough to reach the top spots this time around. And besides, there's only Slackers and TVS that will most likely field there absolute top lineups in their games anyway, should be good games for the rest vs everyone else.

I don't see how you can make the assumption that div 1 clans will definitely be active. All it takes is one key player going inactive. Or just some bullshit drama. Or whatever.

It's just much easier to keep active with bigger divisions, at the start you can find games easily since there are so many opponents. And once the league gets a good start with a lot games played, it is much more likely that the rest will get done also.

Another point is how hard it is for the top clans to get games sometimes. Isolating them to their own division will just make it that much worse.

Well you could in theory make a bigger div1 and then have 2 different playoffs in div1.
For example lets say 12 teams in div1. top6 and bottom6 play their own playoffs.
The ones ranked 1 and 2 automatically skips first elimination round while rank3 plays vs rank6 and rank4 vs rank5. The winners then faces rank2 and 1 respectively (semifinals).
Another way to go could be 12 teams, and top4 play semifinals and then finals since those 4 teams are the only real div1 teams anyway (sr, f, tvs, sd.. don't argue with me here we all know those will be the top4 in div1 :p) and the last 8 have div1.5 playoffs :p

In a div1 with 12 clans, each of the bottom clans should have atleast 5 clans they can theoratically beat and 3 (s, o, cccp) where they can possibly steal maps from.
This would result in more and better games in div1 since the sad div2 teams who end up there will have something to play for in each game since they will fight for positions for their OWN playoffs.

I mean I don't see how anyone likes to play or watch the first elimination rounds in div1 when tvs/sr/f/sd plays 3 maps vs a div2 team. Might aswell skip those games and put those teams in different playoffs.

Well just a thought in how to please em all :o

Playing a team twice when divs are smaller seems a good idea. Not one but two chances to set things straight. But it makes sense with divs without explicit skill differences.

If you wanted to make a smaller division 1, maybe you could have the teams play each other twice. But I agree with others that 3 divisions like last season would be best. Lots of games, not too much of a problem when the American clans go idle, etc...

I belive true div 1 clans are / were tvs sr f sd cccp s ? mlc. Any other team will just lose significantly against them :) Sure you can add o cn i - but i prefer to see them against dc tks id- rather then against tvs.
About other divs i think there are no big gaps i think there wont be many rapes ind div 1-3 in my lineup. But there is big gap between div 1 clans made of stars like f sd sr tvs and clans like o i cn :)
@ Hagge - nah you has some chances vs sauna too :) but personally see you in div 2.
@medar so i've made bigger divs 4-2 becouse i think some tams won't play :) Div 1 clans are solid and definately will play :) hence smaller div :)

You pretty much have to have div 1 of 6 clans or one with at least 10 clans. Otherwise the bottom teams are there just to get raped.

Personally I don't like the idea of 6 clan div 1, and would much rather see a big division where the bottom teams can compete among themselves for the last playoff spots and try to steal maps from the true top clans. Just like we had last season.

I really hope you go with 3 divisions. Last season really showed how well that worked.

3 divisions is all fine in theory, but in practice with such a small number of clans the risk of a few going inactive and making the whole division a joke is just too high.

Sure bigger divisions will mean that some clans will have games against significantly better opponents, but it will also guarantee that everyone will have a bunch of good games too. The risk and the consequences of being placed in a wrong divisions are far smaller.

Looks like CCCP do have B1aze in their lineup. That should improve their routine to div 1 level I guess. Chopstics look also quite strong with a former SLacker and Locke in it.

Agree with Rikoll. Seems like we (Oblivion) will be placed in div1. With a suggestion like the one from biborodek it feels like we only will stand a chance against CCCP. At least two more teams that we could play equally against would be nice, even if the difference between tVS and the last team in the division will be big :) Shit happends!

4 divs looks decent, but I see no obvious reasons for making div1 smaller than the rest. Gonna be huge gaps in every div, and that is just how it is. In a division it is always gonna be a 1st place and last place..
