So what gore? There will always be winners and losers with whatever system they choose. I think this season will be great for us (Oblivion). We have been in div1 for a few seasons without even winning that many maps. We have never whined although this hasn't been something we have prefered. Finally the divisions are a bit bigger, and now we will get a lot more tight games to look forward to, and should finally be able to win quite a few maps :)

There's going to be some "rofl" scores in div1 :(

its not whining its constructive criticism. there is absolutely no point in the div 2 clans competing. whatever ill play when i can be assed and i have no affection for any of these teams.

oh and im not motivated by joining the "elite", id rather be a nobody. enjoy playing similar skilled oponents, nothing more nothing less and theres nothing you so called elites can say to make me think differently.

deluding yourself if you think the skill gap will decrease. its an old game, many clans barely play and are just not interested. la la la la lets all just live under one roof, one div for all.

agree with rkd. we shouldnt take away the possibility to 'win' the eql from the div2 teams. lets make two playoffs in the div1.

one thing I want to see in div1 is 2 seperate playoffs since the skill difference between clans in div1 is so huge.
This should be fairly easy to implement and also help to reduce:

Good things about big divs:
-More games for each clan
-Usually more games that the weaker clans in the division can be competitive in (i.e. the ‘not-really-div1’ clans in div1 can have several decent games against each other rather than only getting smacked down hard by div0, i.e. they are grouped together rather than split across div1 and div2). This is one reason why TKS were happy to play div1 last season because we felt there were at least 4-5 clans we could have close games with. With a smaller division it would have been more daunting. Obviously, you will always have some clans on the boundary.
-Less chance of clans getting in playoffs ‘by default’
-Forces top clans to maintain activity to avoid getting overtaken by highly active average clans
-Widens spectrum of clans for prac/ladder games i.e. more clans who can meet “.qw prac now div2?” criteria (or in other words it reduces the ease with which clans can decline pracs based on the division of their prospective opponent). Being low div1 sucks when div1 is small because hardly anyone will play you.
-Reduced risk of one or two inactive clans screwing up the division

Bad things about big divs:
-Bigger blowouts (tVS vs 15th best clan = GG)
-‘Midtable mediocrity’ syndrome can set in towards the end of the season whereby clans end up having no chance of playoffs and also no chance of being relegated, so have little to play for.
-Fewer top level playoff games (i.e. 3 divs = 3 finals, 4 divs = 4 finals etc)
-Potentially more daunting for people doing coverage… (lol?)

I didn't actually browse through all the lineups of all the clans, but I think the divs actually look pretty nice.

What bothers me most in a league is when you don't have anyone to play against. And with divs that only have 6 clans, there's always a risk of 2 (or so) going inactive, so that leaves 3 games - and that's what some people call a "season". I'd much rather have a wide range of opponents instead of being stuck in some semi inactive mini-div.

And scenic is just fkn hot. He's played as one of the key players in an almost div0 clan for years and it clearly shows when speccing him just a few weeks and games after his last break during mixes. The rest of the team is a bit iffy, however rlx being quite solid and active.

Batfink, nice to see you playing, but I really think ID has quite a good line-up even if you all haven't been that active lately. Basically you have the core of Ballistic with Lacuna thrown in (as he didn't play much just before bst called it quits after one of the most horrid div2's ever). Flint is quite a question mark in my books, cos I don't remember seeing him play all that much league 4on4.

#31 thats rubbish the last 4v4 game I have played was the eql9 div2 final which is well over a year ago and yet i see no problem being in div1... quake is like riding a bike.

#35: To make a comment about your point: That's the reason behind the decision to make the 3 division system more standard. So clans can form their lineup after this 3 div system. As it has been it has always been an uncertainty before every season in how many divs there will be, and therefor hard to guess where one would be put. Hope is that this will make it a bit easier and more solid.

#32, Well I think part of the reason is that our community is quite a bit older than the rest of the communities that are around, people have been playing this game for quite some time even establishing themselves as top players at some point in time and for the past years they feel like they wanna step back and play for fun rather than compete with the best. But this is why divisions have always been a problem as some teams will put up an endless whine season after season despite playing in the same division for years, but never bothering to take the next step, for various reasons. This is a problem as some teams have the experience from players that have played at a high level, but as a team they can't compete in a higher division because they don't put the effort in to prac better teams. But as teams should know by now, admins will seed teams depending on the talent of the players signed up, and some teams complaining here in comments definitely could take maps in div1.

This is referring to other games than qw.

Lastentarha in wrong div. Scenic hasn't played any qw for over a year(shouldn't be reason for div1 anyway, since there are active div0 players like FIX in div2?). Rest of us have played in clan 4on4 last time 5 years ago. Pkk+lohe got also over 1 year break from whole qw. + most of us have laggy 60hz monitors. Why are we supposed to start straight from div1? :l

Even tho myself at one point or another sure has made some div whine. I found it pretty interesting that in the qw scene this is so huge.

In the other quake games I have played this doesn't exist, at least not at this level.
Teams and people are honored by being put in div1 with the elite. And people even whine because they think they have been put in a lower div than they deserve.

A reason for this might be that even if a team know that they are going to loose big in a game vs an elite team, they will still get their 15mins of fame, the game will be posted on ESReality, and it is live streamed and commentated.

Why is it the total opposite in qw?
Three contributing factors might be:
1. In no other game, you can be raped as much as qw dm2.
2. There's just not enough glamour in playing top division.
3. There is more activity, and even if youre put in a div with not much chance of winning, there's still a lot of other clans to play every day for praccs.

Might be worth thinking about at least.

Maks is really good, but comparing him to Fix in 4on4 is a bit over the top. In duels, I'd put my money on Maks though :-)

@MajQ: in-a-blaze (with fix) is quite analog situation but still they are in div 2. A bit inconsisteny here imo.

Allways the same whine.. I would be thrilled if there was a division above div1 where my clan could join as the last clan and try climbing up.
I think that is the funniest thing when it comes to any game.

im happy with div1 tired of always being in div2 when im in a clan with marvel will be nice to play some of the players i used to play back in the old days! so stop whinging in doors... teams like a2k fu and dc we have always been in the same division as so what is the problem?
