BaconMen EQL movie

2005-12-08 04:07 by sassa

From baconmen.net:

"With EQL Season 01 being over, you have a chance to look back on it watching this movie I made the last couple of weeks.

Snippet from the readme.txt:
"This is a QuakeWorld Frag Movie with footage from clan BaconMen first season
in the European Quake Leauge."

Some things to point out:
1) Only EQL footage is shown, there is no material from pracs, 1on1s or 2on2s
2) This movie was made entirley for having a fun time editing some material
rather than showing up some "mad skillz".
3) The above point explains why it's a movie featuring a divison 4 clan B>"

Playoffs & Qualifiers commencing

2005-12-07 22:56 by ?ke Vader

For the clans who are about to play qualifying games and playoff it's now time to do that. You are expected to do this during this week. As you can see in the premiership playoff division table, it's Fragomatic vs Suddendeath and Firingsquad vs Antiquad that are to be played (nr1 vs nr4, nr2 vs nr3). Never mind the division table here, we'll take no consideration to it, it's playoff style that matters. The winners will face eachother in a grand final later on.

In the other divisions it's qualifying time. The only matter to make clear here is that the teams from the same divisions brings the points from their previous game they've had this season. That only makes you have to play two matches versus the clans in the other division. You're free to go on with both qualifying games and playoff games whenever you want to, i know some clans have already started. The sooner they're played, the better. :)

Thoughts about EQL2

2005-11-25 01:52 by term

We aim to get EQL2 up and running asap and I'd like to share some of my personal thoughts regarding a few changes. This is by no means anything official, this is just a few ideas that I have and we want some feedback.

Splitted divisions:
Some players find the minping rule unfair, players that are used to a low ping now have to play with a high minping against teams that are used to high pings. I understand their point and I see no other way to make this more fair then to split some divisions pingwice, tho not all divisions are large enough to split.

More maps:
I think maybe we rushed the big three (tb3) only decision a bit, imho five maps would be more interesting. The two new maps could be decided by a vote, each team could get one vote that is kept secret until a voting time expires. And why not different maps in different division?

Home/away matches:
With splitted divisions there will be fewer matches, unless each team play against all other teams twice. To make this more interesting a home and away system could be used. The team with home map advantage may pick the third map instead of tossing tb3 maps like now. I see no good reason that the third map has to be one of tb3.

Playoff/qualifying:
Obviously a playoff for each division would be funny, but there's a few issues that needs to be discussed first. Shall teams be able to qualify for higher divisions at all or shall admin simply move teams? Maybe playoff that qualifies two teams to move up and automaticly move down the two last teams in each division? And what about home map advantage in the playoff for the better ranked team in each playoff match, like in the Swedish hockey league ;)? Might make the non playoff matches more interesting or?

1 week left!!

2005-11-22 13:58 by sassa

There is 1 week left of the first EQL season and after that you will get 1 catch-up-week.
The importance here is to play your games!
We dont want clans to come and ask us for a wo, we dont want that!
We want the games beeing played 3v4, 3v3 dosnt matter, just get them played :)
Directly after that day (2005-12-05) the Group-Qualifying starts.
With the two top vs to bottom in a group game with the best two going to up a div!
(best of 3 maps as usual execpt the top4 in div1's "playoff", that will be best of 5 only in the finals)

Flinta/zanne/kreon are not admins here anylonger and if you play in div4-5 and want to help us out, just msg me, ake_vader or term.

Playoffs/Qualifying

2005-11-16 14:41 by term

I've updated the rules regarding playoffs and qualifying. We do realize that many of the non Div1 clans want playoff as well but you have to wait for EQL2 :/. We are not satisfied with some of the divisions and our goal is to start EQL2 asap after EQL1, hopefully with more even divs after the qualifying matches.

Playoff/Qualifying:

Div1 top 4 teams - semifinals and final or 3rd place match.
Div2-5 top 2 teams - 2 qualifying matches to step up one div.
Div1-4 bottom 2 teams - 2 qualifying matches to stay in current div.
Qualifying groups - the 2 teams from the same Div keep their points from their previous battle.
Only the final is best out of 5 maps, all other matches are best out of 3 maps.

3 weeks left

2005-11-15 08:49 by sassa

3 weeks left to go + 1 week of playoff for div1 (top4) and after that its the start of EQL2.
So I really hope that you guys get your games going in the next 3 weeks.

yeah as I said, EQL2 will start 1 week after this one has ended so its very important to play your games in time.
I have kicked alot of clans out of the league, that have not played that many games and will do that today with PM aswell.

Team Freedom removed from Division 2

2005-11-11 13:59 by ?ke Vader

Znappe reported today that they won't be able to play their EQL games in division 2. This was quite expected as they hadn't played any game at all in the league. There are more cases like this, The Pures in division 2 for example, and i guess we will have to remove some of these inactive teams to clarify which games the remaining teams should try to schedule and play.

Cheers and happy fragging!
