Div4 preview

2006-03-26 18:00

Hello new and old friends of the qw community. I am back again
to cover division 4 this time, that is both a and b division. I take this opportunity to share my thoughts and ideas of how
this season will go down in the qw history books.

The maps
This time around the clans in div4 have voted to play tb3 only, this will ofcourse have a greater impact on some of the clans than the others. For example Morituri are somewhat cmt4 specialists. Other clans and players (including myself) are happy to play the good old tb3 and don?t have to worry about keeping 5 different maps in the mind. Atleast some people (including myself again) find this very hard to do.

The teams

Division 4a

Apocalypse2k, kurwas
Here is another of the ever increasingly popular b-squads of an already well known team. This time it is a2k who have formed a team of "less skilled" players to play in the lower parts of the leaguesystems. I say "less skilled" because they are not bad, only not as good as their a-squad. I have played vs this team once and as far as i can see thay are quite good and are evolving a nice teamwork, slowly coming together as a team instead of individuals. They beat us 3-0 that prac btw.
Recently the also won against nnm, the russian boys, in an nqr game. On a good day I see no problem for them facing of with the other clans in this division and they can surely finnish in the top of the table.

aX3
The old polish clan is back again. I have played versus them now and then ever since nqr3. Always good on dm2 but when playing non-polish clans there is always some ping issue that makes them a little weaker on ping dependant maps like dm3 and e1m2. They also have a good chance at the higher positions and
their game versus Terror Forge will surely be interesting, an epic 3 times dm2 game anyone?

BaconMen
Oh the Men of Bacon. Another team who has grown into the qw shoes fast and are improving alot both as individuals and as a team. With mawe running the quads smooth like silk the other three got his back. It would be beneficial for them if onosendai got back on the qw track but they dont really need him to score points versus most of the clans here. I have played vs them alot and lately they have been hard to beat if not to say even get decent losing scors against. Since i met them the first time the have gone from div5 to low div3 and are not stopping there. But as always it all comes down to activity and some luck to end up in the top.

Din Is near
Here is one of the two teams i fear will have a rough ride through the season. I haven?t seen these guys play yet but I hope they do. With some practice and focus on their best map I am sure they can take home a few points. They will have to see this season as a learning one to get their teamplay together.

NoNaMe
The clan that got known for all the wrong reasons. After one of their players using aimbot in an official game their reputation sank through the floor. However a whole clan should not have to suffer for what one guys does and the rest of the guys here are good, using russian servers and minping50 as their foremost weapon. They have great skills on dm2/dm3 but lack some knowledge on e1m2 wich should be considered their
weakness. They can very likely be in the top3 here.

Oldones
Another bunch of middle skilled players making a rather good team. I have played vs oldones alot and they are pretty strong on all the maps of tb3. Hoder has gotten rid of his annyoing timeouts and is now playing a solid 20 minutes per map.
Allthough beeing good at all three maps I would say that dm2 is their strongest card and e1m2 is their weakest. This would make them a feared enemy especially for the two polish teams.
On a sidenot they seem to have lost vertigo who played with them for a while. This ofcourse has some negative impact on their teamplay. They will score fairly many points and end up somewhere in the middle.

Parolan Visa
This seems to be a gang of old teamfortress players joining up for some team deathmatch. Sorry to say that they will be the punchbag here with their only chance at a win is versus DIN. Other than that i don?t know much about these guys so anyone knowing more then feel free to fill me in on the details.

*EDIT: I have just been confronted by members of parolanvisa saying that I write alot of shit and that they apparantly have beaten chosen on dm3 with +80 frags. This ofcourse changes alot and maybe they will end on in the middle of their division.*

Terror Forge
Formerly known as the x-files this polish clan are also strong on dm2. Though it seems like they have some internal problems during matches with severe whine on polish at eachother they usually pull of kinda good games. Last time I met them was in a recent nqr game where we squezed in a 2-1 victory after some luck with a timeout on troll in the second map. As most polish clans they are a little worse on e1m2 but they are gaining some skill on that one too. This team should end up in the middle of the table i presume.

Division 4b

Chosen
Ah this is, as many of you allready know, my own team. Chosen has been around the teamfortress scene for ages but as activity on the tf scene declined they switched over to tdm. Since spring 2005 they have participated in every nqr, eql and ladder avaliable and have become increasingly better. There has been quite alot of player turnovers but the team is beginning to form a more solid core nowadays. Last season csn finnished just out of qualification spots to div3 and this season they are eager to show what they can do. Best map is the old swede map e1m2 where they got 100% efficiency so far in the nqr tournament running alongside with eql3. Worst maps are cmt maps and it feels good atleast for me not having to play those in this season. I think chosen is a strong candidate for the top positions but will face some difficulties with clans who has a bit better teamplay.

Cool guys
I am sorry to say that i don?t know much about this american team. There are no names on their roster that ring a bell so for me they are a total dark horse and can end up pretty much anywhere in this group. They will suffer alot from the ping i guess and it depends on how much they have played with high ping before how well they will manage here.

Da Quaking Manjakks
This team has gone the opposite way as far as b-teams go. Instead some players formed a "star-team" and left these guys on their own. It will be interesting to see how far they can go with players mostly used to sitting back and guard various positions. The obviuos quadrunner would be Siikah. They can go far if they can find a good core of players and stick to that lineup.

Defs
Once again in div4 the pt/uk clan will strive for the top. Having some ping issues but always make strong performances in the games I have played against them. They have had pretty much the same guys for a while wich is good for their teamplay and i would say e1m2 and dm3 are their best maps. My guess is they end up near the top depending on lineup and activity.

Dybbuk
Maybe the strongest team in this group, having played together from lan for a long time. With fox and tuna on the quads the scores tends to run wild on maps like dm2 and e1m2. Their teamplay is solid and they would do well on div3 with a better activity, I guess thats why they slipped down to div4 this time. If this clan
does not end up in first place there must be some serious upsets and unexpected outcomes.

Morituri
The limeys are back on track but will be denied some easy wins since cmt4 is out of the map pool. They have dropped some players into their b-squad in div5 but that will probably not affect their game too much. Other than cmt4 they are fairly good on dm2 and dm3 and should be able to end up in the middle or slightly above this time around.

Paramedics
Some familiar names here but thats about it. I will have to see some results before i can take a guess on this teams position. I will probably play them tonight (sunday 26 march) and you can tune in for the result later. They will also be playing with 90 to 130ms and it will be interesting to see how they cope with that.

Smackthatass
Another german clan with some fairly good players. I have seen them play some good and some disatrous games and it seems like they are dependant on getting a good lineup since the skill difference inside the team seems quite big. I think their games vs sd.p and the american teams will pretty much decide their position here since they will not be able to threaten the other teams that much.

Suddendeath.Project
This team has gone from low div5 to middle div4 in a short while. Having played some good games vs better teams lately including 1-2 vs chosen in nqr. The other teams will have to be on the lookout
here or else sd.p will snatch points on dm3 or e1m2. There are no outstandig stars here but hard work and mm3 teamplay make them a dangerous opponent. This said i still think they will have a hard time this season and learn alot for the upcoming ones. If they pull it together they wont end up last but closer to the middle.

Thats it for this time
Thank you for reading
