Good idea. But this one needs an active admin to follow all
these games (or speccing demos at least). And even if people
are watching, some lameass might still be able to fake as a
newbie since it's not that hard not to bunny and you can
kill real newbies pretty easily without aiming too good.
#2 2006-05-05 12:37 by ?ke Vader (217.210.101.XXX)
I wonder if we will get more than 3 full clans though...
#3 2006-05-05 12:49 by Zanne (195.198.202.XXX)
Yeah ofcourse the rules and the administrative work will be
strict and hard, anyhow we can always give it a try
#4 2006-05-05 12:49 by zanne (195.198.202.XXX)
and yeah ?ke, even if we can get 1-2 clans, that's a great
start.
We could also make a news item about it on fragzone and
other pages, since it's a gaming society and then ppl might
get interested.
#5 2006-05-05 12:58 by joulukuu (80.186.11.XXX)
the problem is that some new clans are bound to be alot
better than others... how about just revising your player
policies in div5, something like no players with div3 or
higher experience is allowed to play with div5clans
#6 2006-05-05 13:43 by error (213.114.99.XXX)
I think we need that faker servu thing before we can do
this. :/

Yeah if there were some login service before playing or
such, that logs ip it would've been great.
Than this could be accomplished successfully
#10 2006-05-05 14:34 by pekekekeke (193.167.10.XXX)
how n00b players must be to participate? I've few friends
who've been playing occasionally, like a year or so.. They
can bunny and stuff, but havent played any 4on4 at all..
Some of them have Teamfortress background though..
#11 2006-05-05 15:22 by zanne (195.198.202.XXX)
Players who've never played in a clan before I'd suppose, in
QW that is
#12 2006-05-05 15:55 by sassa (213.113.96.XXX)
if we get 3 clans, then they play vs each other 3-4 times
etc.. so we get a full 7-9 week schedule
#13 2006-05-05 16:12 by manny (86.132.79.XXX)
Just an idea that popped into my head:
How about assigning each of these newbie teams a
mentor/coach player from the higher divs who wouldnt
actually play but would help with setups and tp strategies
and give warming back massages to console the poor little
mites when they lost.
#14 2006-05-05 16:28 by zanne (195.198.202.XXX)
Yeah that's an idea manny, if we get some voulenteers
#15 2006-05-05 16:35 by Hooraytio (212.214.218.XXX)
ill tip my friend about this
he has played some on our lans and some duels online and
never been active in any clan, i think he might be
interested to play for a newbie team
#16 2006-05-05 22:34 by c (213.66.228.XXX)
So how many people would participate in this division? If I
would be completely new to the scene I would try to join
some div 5 clan and get some practice with them, instead of
starting new clans, you don't start a company before you
know your work, so to speak...
#17 2006-05-06 10:20 by ??? (84.249.154.XXX)
Can people who've been playing Teamfortress participate?
#18 2006-05-07 04:13 by sassa (213.113.96.XXX)
yeah, everyone that is beginner can start playing this, but
not ppl that have played teamfortress, I think they are more
suited for div5 than "beginner div"
#19 2006-05-07 10:13 by Hooraytio (212.214.218.XXX)
i think old tf players are a big part of the newcommers in
qw and without them in newbie-div there wont be much of it
:P
#20 2006-05-07 10:14 by JohnNy_cz (195.113.25.XXX)
Good idea. In Czech republic we are running a 1on1 tourney
with skill groups (gold/silver/bronze) which helped us to
attrack a lot of new players to the game. But we are not
able to offer them 4on4 they would enjoy. They just see that
only the top4 players of the gold bracket are able to play
in div5-3 clans so they don't even try to put up a clan.
I also think that some legalized ghosting (by a skilled
div1-3 player) would be good here. The teamplay is very
complex thing, I think it would make newbies to learn think
faster and I also think it would make the div1 players
willing to fake compensate their filthy thought on this :)
However I don't expect it to happen because admins are too
scared of cheating and ktpro at it's present state doesn't
have a feature that would publicly lock a spectator to track
only one team.

"and ktpro at it's present state doesn't have a feature

add to the suggestion-box on the KTX-thread :)

I agree with Jhonny_Cz, to have someone spec his own team
and coaching them during the game, then the routine and
standard of the newbies will advance alot which will lead to
more fun for the new guys.
#23 2006-05-07 15:02 by Kalma (88.112.65.XXX)
This "coach" could track one of the players via
qizmo.
#24 2006-05-08 03:30 by killy (194.165.180.XXX)
I like the idea - although I would prefer if you relaxed the
definition of newbie a bit. There is no way you can
strictly police it without killing the division altogether,
because if any clan goes out and makes a huge effort and
wins all their games 350-0, then they'll be criticised for
undermining the spirit of the newbie league.
Allow for a "big brother" system where you're
allowed one semi-noob who will help the clan to advance
their tactics and stuff (and usually new clans have a
semi-noob at the core, trying to get them into the game).
#25 2006-05-08 12:06 by ekekekekekeekekekeekek (193.167.10.XXX)
// i think old tf players are a big part of the newcommers

//
i totally agree. i've talked to some old tf dudes and they'd
love to participate ( "we wanted allways to play dm but
got raped so badly...;( ")
the only thing that worries me is that it's not easy to
people connect to create clans. I think we should have
irc-channels like #team-red, #team-blue, #team-pink, a.s.o.
to people to join.
Anyway, when is this turne going to happen?
#26 2006-05-08 22:53 by psilo (84.171.219.XXX)
i'm one more candidate for beg-div
my skills: getting raped in mixgames day by day =]

#28 2006-05-10 09:47 by Hooraytio (212.214.218.XXX)
my guess is that eql4 will start at the end of summer
sometime...
maybe someone wanna set up a summer cup or smth?
#29 2006-05-10 14:37 by zanne (195.198.202.XXX)
I will set up a summercup and run it, and I will include a
newbie league, with different teams, players will
participate by joining with their nicks and will be put
together in a team, if there's 4 guys that know each other
they may want to create their own team, and ofcourse they're
allowed to do so.
We'll have coaches in which will be appointed to one team,
so voulenteers will have to sign up when I get everything
done.
Old TF players are more than welcome to this newbie league,
since it's not for certain it will be very fair regardless
of whom plays in the division we'll just hope for the best.
#30 2006-05-10 17:53 by Hooraytio (212.214.218.XXX)
i could prolly coach some team
gonna work all summer and lan with fisto :)
#31 2006-05-10 21:02 by Term (85.226.178.XXX)

#32 2006-05-14 17:44 by Hooraytio (212.214.218.XXX)
yeah, ill just come up with some fakenick
(hint hint DEFS hint hint)
